More than “just” a bracelet…
The picture might not make sense but the story behind it will stay with me forever. This past weekend I did an event at Kalahari and this lady came by my table but didn’t say anything. I’m assuming her husband asked if he could sit for a moment in one of my chairs. I said of course. Same lady came back again but this time she asked if I could fix her bracelets because they have stretched to the point they now slip right off. She said one of them was her daughter’s. I said of course I offer re- welds but I use my own jump rings. She said is the same thing you have I got this done in Austin. I try to explain and show how her jump ring wasn’t welded and it was very thick. She was very adamant that I did not changed anything about her daughter’s bracelet and use what she already had. Normally I wouldn’t do this but in our conversation I noticed something was off. So I said ok, I’ll do it. As we are adjusting everything and cutting the pieces, she starts crying so I asked if everything was ok, if I had done something, her husband said no it is not you, you’re ok. That’s when I understood that something happened to her daughter and she may no longer be with her. They have gotten matching bracelets and now she carried her daughter’s with her. She said they meant to get them fix but never had the chance and that her daughter lost hers and it wasn’t until later that she found it. Knowing this, I said I’m going to make you a ring with the pieces I cut so that you don’t have to throw anything away, she smile with tears in her eyes. The ring was the perfect size for the finger she wanted! Now she continues to wear two forever bracelets and the memory without the fear of loosing them.
Thank you for letting be part of this moment with you.
