We sadly had to leave Sammy but before we left we had one more adventure and swim time.

What started as a peaceful stroll down the boardwalk at Kalea Bay quickly turned into a full-blown wilderness survival expedition.

We found ourselves dodging enormous spider webs that appeared out of nowhere, sprinting from crabs that seemed determined to defend their territory, and laughing so hard we nearly had to call for backup.

At one point, there may have been some high-pitched screaming, questionable running techniques, and one unnamed member of our group screamed so hard they may have peed their pants just a little. (Don’t ask… we aren’t naming names. 🤐😂)
Against all odds, we survived the Great Kalea Bay Boardwalk Adventure of 2026.

Everyone made it back in one piece, no one became a spider’s dinner, the crabs kept their beach, and only one of us returned… slightly damp. 🦀🕷️🤣

Playing catch up on posts. Aka chaos adventures!

The kids had an awesome first experience in the ocean, and it couldn’t have been any better! They spent hours hunting for shells, splashing in the waves, and making memories with Luke and Sammy. Every new shell they found was more exciting than the last, and there was plenty of laughter along the way.

Swimming out to the sandbar was another highlight. It was just the right mix of adventure and excitement, and they were so proud of themselves for making it out there.

One of the coolest moments of the day was when Hanna dove down and found a live sand dollar! After admiring it for a minute, we carefully put it back where it belonged. Then, as if the ocean wanted to reward her, she dove down again and found another sand dollar—this one wasn’t alive, so it got to come home as a special souvenir.

Not bad for a first-time ocean diver! Between the shells, the sand dollars, the sandbar, and endless smiles, I’d say the ocean definitely made a great first impression. 🌊🐚❤️

Welcome to Naples! 6/22

I tried to warn Sammy that chaos was coming… but I don’t think she believed me. 😂

Before we even made it into the cottage, the food container Chelsa had carefully stacked on top of the cooler fell off… not once… not twice… but THREE times while we were carrying in the luggage. We probably should’ve taken that as our warning. 🤣

Sammy handed us the keys to the cottage, wished us a great stay, and within 3 minutes the chaos across America road trip lived up to its reputation again.

Jonathan opened a door… and in came a lizard.

Instant pandemonium.

Chelsa was screaming, Hanna was chasing, everyone was yelling, and I’m pretty sure the lizard immediately regretted every life choice that led it into our cottage. 🦎🤣

After what felt like an action movie, we finally opened the doors again, and the lizard made a break for freedom… not because we caught it, but because it desperately wanted to escape us.

Welcome to vacation, where relaxation lasts approximately three minutes. 😂

New Orleans did not disappoint! 🎉

We took an airboat swamp tour and saw lots of alligators, herons, and even owls. As it turns out, alligators weren’t hard to find. We saw so many that I started wondering if they were giving tours of us.

Then it was off to Bourbon Street, where live bands were playing on the corners and the energy was nonstop.

Our final challenge was making it to Café du Monde before the rain hit.
We power-walked (okay, maybe speed-waddled) through the city trying to beat the rain to Café du Monde. We made it there, enjoyed every powdered-sugar-covered bite, and then promptly lost our battle with the weather on the way back. ☔️😂

A little wet, a little sticky, and completely worth it!

Made it to New Orleans!!! 🎉⚜️

After a long drive, we’re ready to refuel with some pizza at Pizza Luna. 🍕😋 Road Trippin’ with Nana is still going strong, and so far the trip has included water slides, screaming, laughter, and plenty of memories. Now it’s time to relax, eat, and get ready for whatever adventure comes next.

New Orleans, we’re here! Let the shenanigans continue! 🚗💨⚜️🍕💕

Road Trippin’ with Nana – Stop #1: Great Wolf Lodge, Grapevine, Texas! 🐺💦

We had an absolute blast at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, Texas, as the first official stop on our Road Trippin’ with Nana adventure! We conquered almost every indoor waterslide, including Alberta Falls, Coyote Canyon, Howlin’ Tornado, and one more whose name has apparently been washed away by all the excitement. 😂

The highlight (or terror, depending on who you ask) was the Howlin’ Tornado. According to Chelsa, it was scarier than a roller coaster! It was dark, full of unexpected drop-offs, and seemed determined to throw us out of the raft at every turn. There may or may not have been a significant amount of screaming involved. 😱🤣

Somehow we survived, laughed until our sides hurt, and immediately started talking about which slide to ride next. If this is how our road trip starts, I can’t wait to see what adventures are waiting for us down the road! 🚗💕🌊

Apparently every biker gang needs a name, and since my life seems to revolve around Tuck & Send, card making, and a healthy dose of chaos, I figured it was time to make it official! 🏍️✂️📬
Now I need your help choosing the perfect biker gang name. Which one is your favorite, or do you have an even better idea?

Grandkid Logic at Its Finest

I asked Jonathan if I could ride his mini bike.

He said, “No, Nana.”

I asked, “Why?”

He replied, “Because I don’t want to be responsible for you dying.” 🤣

I told him, “Jonathan, I probably have a much higher chance of dying just trying to walk through your room!” 😂

Pretty sure the mini bike is safer than navigating the obstacle course of Legos on his floor. 💀🏍️

He thought about it for a second and then said…

“Okay, you can try it.” 😂😂😂

Apparently, after comparing the risks, the mini bike seemed like the safer option! 🏍️

Day 1 shenanigans in Amarillo! 🤠

After getting picked up at the airport, Hanna and I broke the last link in the paper chain she had made to count down the days until Nana arrived. 🥰

Then the real adventure began! First stop: Walmart to buy spray paint like a group of perfectly respectable tourists with questionable intentions. 🎨🚗 Then headed to Cadillac Ranch and Slug Bug Ranch to legally vandalize some cars and unleash our inner artists. (Let’s just say Picasso has nothing to worry about.)

After working up an appetite, we tackled dinner at the Big Texan Steak Ranch. 🥩🤤 We admired the folks brave enough to attempt the 72-ounce steak challenge while we wisely chose to keep our dignity intact.

No arrests, no sinkholes, and no one accidentally spray-painted themselves (that I’m admitting to). I’d call Day 1 a success! 😂❤️🌵

Here I go on another adventure! ✈️
Hopefully the runway is sinkhole-free and all smooth skies ahead! 😄 I can’t wait to see my daughter and squeeze those grandkids. My heart is already full just thinking about it. 💞
