Students Making A Difference

Students Making A Difference Meetings are held Tuesdays at the Cheyenne CSN Campus 11:00am-1:00pm in Room 2203 and Wednesdays at the Charleston CSN Campus 11:30am-1:00pm Room E240

Our mission is to give back to the community! We've done clean-ups at Mount Charleston, work with Child Focus, Three Square Food Drive, High Five, Opportunity Village, other non-profit organizations, and many other fun projects! If you are an active member (3 events for fall AND spring), you get to join us for our end of the year California weekend trip where we plan to do a beach clean up and hav

e fun out there to relax together and award ourselves for what we've accomplished! New members are always welcomed! :)

-free weekend California trip in Spring 2013 (beach clean up & amusement park) after SMAD member has completed doing 3 volunteer events in Fall 2012 and 3 volunteer events in Spring 2013.

-CSN president has a banquent for people that have volunteered for a certain amount of hours, rewards include certificates & medals from CSN president, up to 100 hours = a reward from the President of the United States (great recognition, looks amazing on a resume, knowing you made a difference in someone’s life by simply volunteering)

-throughout your experience you will get to meet great people who have the same goal: to actively make a difference. President’s volunteer service award

The President’s Volunteer Service Award recognizes any individuals, families, and groups through Presidential recognition of a lapel pin, personalized certificate from the President of the United States and a Congratulatory letter for volunteer hours earned over a 12-month period or over the course of a lifetime at home or abroad. The following are the eligibility requirements for each age group:

Kids: Age 5-14 Young Adults: Individual Age 15-25 Adults: Individual Age 26+

BRONZE– Kids: 50-74 hours Young Adults: 100-174 hours Adults: 100-249 hours Family & Groups: 200-499 hours

SILVER– Kids: 75-99 hours Young Adults: 175-249 hours Adults: 250-499 hours Family & Groups: 500-999 hours

GOLD– Kids: 100+ hours Young Adults: 250+ hours Adults: 500+ hours Family & Groups: 1000+ hours

PRESIDENTIAL CALL TO SERVICE AWARD– All ages: 4,000 hours or more (over a lifetime)

Thank you SMAD members for joining me for CSN Serves Day of Service for the Habitat for Humanity. We painted primer, sealant to all walls in the house and Alexis even helped with cutting baseboards and installing closet door tracks! Thank you CSN Serves for coordinating a nice project.
