It is almost never the stranger.

Predators do not come in looking suspicious. They come in looking helpful. They show up early, stay late, volunteer for everything, and build trust with your staff before they ever cross a line with a child.

Think about the kids in your program right now.

According to the CDC, 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 13 boys will experience sexual abuse before their 18th birthday.

That is not a distant statistic. Those are kids already sitting in your program, on your team, in your youth group right now.

And the majority of them will never tell a single adult.

Let me ask you something direct.

Your organization has a fire evacuation plan. You probably have one for medical emergencies too. But what happens if a child is being sexually abused inside your walls? What is your written protocol?

If the answer is "we would handle it" or "we would figure it out", that is not a policy. And when a lawsuit comes, "we had good intentions" will not hold up in court.
