Sterling silver is an alloy, meaning it’s mostly silver combined with other metals to improve strength and durability. Sterling is 92.5% pure silver, typically marked with stamps like 925 or .925 to show its authenticity.

The alloy metals (often copper, zinc, or nickel) make sterling much more resilient and long-lasting, which is why it’s widely used in permanent jewelry that’s meant to be worn daily.

As of today, silver trades around $110–$113 per ounce; a valuable precious metal with real market worth.
