This week commonly referred to as Holy Week embodies the greatest attribute of Christianity - Love! For “God is love.” - John 4:16
Holy Week commemorates the lead-up to the pivotal moment when our Savior endured unimaginable suffering, culminating in his crucifixion, all for our redemption—a testament to unparalleled love.
Love, as outlined in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, transcends sentimentality; it's an active choice. Among Paul's descriptions of love, its patience stands out, reflecting Jesus' enduring patience with even the most trying disciples, like Peter, who demonstrated impulsiveness by cutting off an ear.
Moreover, Jesus exemplified selflessness, consistently aligning with his Father's will over his own desires, symbolized by his humble entry on a donkey rather than a regal horse.
In the face of brutality, Jesus didn't retaliate but showed empathy, epitomizing forgiveness by urging, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do," exemplifying love's capacity to let go of grievances.
Crucially, Jesus' sacrifice on the cross underscores love's indomitable nature; even in his final moments, he offered hope, forgiving a thief and persevering through death to bestow love upon the earth for 40 days post-resurrection before sending the Holy Spirit. This Love Week, we reflect on these profound acts of love, inspiring us to embrace its transformative power in our lives.
