Feeling like your interiors are a little blehhh lately? Overwhelmed by too many choices and afraid to commit to color? Don’t worry—you’re not alone! One of my favorite ways to instantly breathe life into a drab space is by adding a single statement piece in a bold, fun hue—like this sexy, chic velvet green chair I’m currently obsessed with. It adds personality without overwhelming the room.

Not into green? No problem. Try a colorful piece of art, a patterned throw pillow, or even a pop of color on your lampshade or rug. The key is to start small and choose something that sparks joy.

A little color can go a long way—and might just be the refresh your space needs. It doesn’t have to be a huge expense! I love flea market finds, second hand stores and yes, I’m not ashamed to say Homegoods or TJ Maxx! I’m Chinese after all and I love a good bargain! 😂🤣😆 My mom taught me well! My ancestors 🧧🥢🥮🥟 would so be proud. 🥰😍😊😂

Sunday, The Foothill Catalog Foundation hosted a 3 hour Design Guideline Workshop at the Blinn House in Pasadena. The six topics we focused on were:

1. Livability
2. Affordability & Constructability
3. Resiliency & Sustainability
4. Architectural Character
5. Interiors
6. Landscape & Site

Time well spent with a diverse group of professionals lending their time to give their expertise on each topic.

Each group came up with 3 key points that they felt were most important as we look ahead on what could shape the design guidelines.

The team I worked with was the Affordability & Constructability team pictured here. I made a lot of great new connections and reconnected with an old colleague as well as getting reacquainted with people I met at the roll out of the first designs for the catalog held in Sierra Madre.

Collectively there was such great energy as each group provided valuable insight on each topic. Great job 👏 everyone!

📣📣📣 Please join the The Foothill Catalog Foundation [aka TFCF] this Sunday as they showcase all the hard work architects and interior design designers [myself included] in the greater Los Angeles and Pasadena area to volunteer their time to create concept homes to rebuild the historical beauty of Altadena. I commend the amazing efforts of TFCF to make this happen.

I was honored to be asked to submit a concept design for a mid-century modern home. I always try to look for ways to use my interior design skills to help others in need. This is definitely a passion project as helping the Altadena community helps so many of my close friends who lost their homes. 😔

My kids went to Aveson so our Family 💕 feels tied to Altadena and this is a way to give back to the community that gave our family so many wonderful memories. It’s still so hard to believe the devastation of the neighborhoods.

We are so grateful to TFCF! Thank you! 🙏
