While many storied brands produced exceptional chronographs during the golden age of the complication, from the 1930s through the 1970s, countless others failed to survive the Quartz Crisis. Some disappeared entirely, while others were absorbed into larger conglomerates that stripped them of their assets, archives and remaining inventories.

Philippe Watch was one such casualty. Not to be confused with Patek Philippe, this Swiss manufacturer produced a remarkable series of chronographs throughout the 1940s that remain largely overlooked today. Flying well under the radar, these watches combine compelling design, historical significance and outstanding value, qualities that make them deserving of far more attention than they currently receive.

Measuring 38mm in diameter, it features a stunning telemeter dial accented in blue and red, offering both visual impact and vintage charm. Beneath the caseback beats the legendary Valjoux 22, a hand-wound chronograph movement revered by collectors for its robust construction, refined operation and historical significance.
