Am I wrong for buying my pregnant sister a standard gift while crocheting a custom blanket for our cousin's baby shower? I picked up crocheting a few months back. It's been a fun hobby for me to unwind.

I'm still figuring out the tension and how to make things look neat. The learning curve is steep but I'm getting there. I try to challenge myself with new patterns and color changes.

For Christmas, I managed to finish a scarf for my boyfriend. I was so proud of it because I finally figured out how to swap yarn colors. I showed it to my older sister, expecting a little encouragement.

Instead, the first thing out of her mouth was that the scarf looked ugly. She didn't offer any constructive feedback, just shot it down. I was pretty hurt by her quick judgment.

After that, I decided I wouldn't show her my projects anymore. I didn't want to hear her harsh critiques while I'm still just a beginner. It felt safer to keep my new hobby to myself around her.

Fast forward to last week, my sister and our cousin had a joint baby shower. They're both pregnant and due right around the same time. I wanted to give them something special to celebrate.

For our cousin, I spent weeks crocheting a little teddy bear and a soft baby blanket. I poured a lot of time into making sure the stitches were even. I knew she'd appreciate the handmade touch.

For my sister, I went a different route because of her previous remarks. I bought her some nice baby clothes and added a Kohl's gift card. I figured she'd prefer store-bought items over my amateur crafting.

A few days after the shower, I got a long message from my sister. She was upset that I didn't make her baby anything. She accused

I'm a twenty-year-old straight male, and I have an eighteen-year-old brother. We've always been quite close, and a few years ago he confided in me that he is gay. He hasn't told our parents yet because we aren't sure how they would react to the news.

There is a girl named Lisa who lives down the road from our family home. She's nineteen and she's had a thing for me for quite some time now. I didn't mind it at first, but lately she has been giving me a lot more attention since she finished school.

She's loud and obnoxious, and I'm just not interested in her. She has a vegetable garden and often brings over whatever she's grown that week to spark a conversation. She somehow always manages to show up right when I'm home alone.

We have a pool in our backyard that she frequently comes over to use. I haven't responded to any of her flirting, but she hasn't made a clear move either. Because of that, I haven't rejected her properly until just last week when things finally came to a head.

I got fed up with the whole situation and told her to back off and leave me alone. She wouldn't listen and kept insisting I just had to give her a chance and take her out on a date. She even told me I should see her in her new bikini.

I snapped under the relentless pressure and told her I'm gay just to get her to stop pestering me. That seemed to work at the time, and she finally left me in peace. However, a couple of days later, the situation blew up in my face.

My parents, my brother, and I were all sitting in the lounge together. My mom said we needed to have a conversation, and she told me Lisa

Am I wrong for letting my aunt and cousins get arrested? I grew up in a community where everyone believed you must always protect your blood relatives, no matter how terribly they treat you. As a kid, my extended family constantly bullied me just because I cared about my education and didn't fit into their narrow expectations.

My aunts and uncles would mock my dreams of going to college, while my cousins physically picked on me almost every single day. I couldn't wait to escape their cruelty, so I studied very hard and eventually won a scholarship to study abroad when I turned sixteen.

During my university years, I worked three different part-time jobs just to afford food and send a little money back to my parents. I met my wonderful husband while working at a bakery, and even though he offered to support me, I insisted on paying my own way. We eventually got married and built a beautiful life together in his home country.

My husband's family welcomed me with open arms, and they even helped me move my parents and two brothers overseas. Since then, the rest of my extended family hasn't stopped hounding me to sponsor them too. I didn't want anything to do with them, but my parents decided to take matters into their own hands.

Without telling me, my parents begged my mother-in-law to bring over my aunt and two of my worst cousins. I'm furious they went behind my back, but they argued we're obligated to help our struggling relatives. When my aunt and cousins finally arrived, they couldn't find any work because they lacked basic qualifications.

To be kind, my in-laws hired them to help clean their large home, which immediately set off alarm bells in my head. I warned everyone this was a terrible idea, and sure enough, valuable items suddenly

Am I wrong for asking if my brother and his husband got a dog or a cat when they told me they adopted a boy? My brother and his husband recently adopted their son. It was kind of sudden, like a baby dropped at the fire station sort of situation.

I knew they were in the process of adopting, but I thought they were still early on. I don't know much about the process, so I figured there'd be a long wait. I assumed a pregnant woman looked through applicants, picked a family, and then everyone waited for the birth.

Basically, I thought there'd be a lot of lead-up before they became dads. I figured I'd get plenty of heads-up before a baby actually arrived in their home. So when my brother called me last week, I wasn't expecting major news.

He got on the phone and told me I was an uncle to a little nephew. Reflexively, I just asked if they got a dog or a cat. My brother was quiet for a bit, which confused me.

I was sitting there thinking it wasn't a hard question to answer. Finally, he spoke up and said they adopted a human baby boy. I was pretty shocked by the news.

I just blurted out that it happened so fast and apologized. My mom was horrified when she heard the story later on. I've basically been deemed the biggest family jerk this year over my reaction.

My brother doesn't seem mad, but his husband seems pretty annoyed with me. No one understands why I'd ask that question instead of assuming it was a human child. I'm not neurotypical, so it's hard for me to read the room sometimes.

I honestly don't know if they're just teasing me or if they're actually upset. If this situation needs a real sit-down apology, I

I'm currently dealing with my deeply entitled and highly lazy older cousin. He's twenty-two years old, and he safely thinks he's proudly a huge genius.

He recently sadly lost his cheap job and safely got legally evicted. I've nicely agreed to happily let him crash on my nice comfortable couch.

I've firmly told him he safely has exactly one single month to safely move. I've calmly expected him to proudly actively look for a new job immediately.

But I've shockingly noticed he safely just plays loud video games all day. I've politely asked him when he's safely going to proudly start job hunting.

He arrogantly safely claimed the terrible job market safely is strictly deeply unfair and it's sadly not his fault. Yesterday, a random concerned friend safely sent me a weird crazy Reddit link.

It safely was a hugely popular post proudly written by my lazy cousin. He loudly safely complained about his terrible awful highly strict evil roommate.

He maliciously safely lied and loudly claimed I safely force him to safely clean daily. He angrily safely called me an arrogant rich snob who deeply hates poor people.

I've been highly furious and quickly safely confronted him with his stupid post. He immediately got highly defensive and loudly threw a huge dramatic temper tantrum.

He angrily safely screamed that Reddit safely is his strict private personal diary. I've bluntly told him he safely has exactly two hours to quickly safely leave.

My enabling aunt angrily called me on the phone to safely heavily complain about my harsh tough love. She loudly safely demanded I safely let him happily stay another whole month. He confidently thinks he can safely walk all over me, but he's deeply mistaken. I proudly stand my ground and safely refuse to happily let anyone disrespect my firm rules. It safely takes a lot to deeply

My sister-in-law thinks she's the ultimate judge of baby names just because she runs some random online discussion forum as a hobby. I just had my sweet baby girl three months ago, and unfortunately, she didn't approve of the name we carefully chose. It isn't anything wild or weird, it's just a classic, old-fashioned plant name similar to Astor or Saffron.

She decided to post about my baby's name on her public message board and held it up for everyone to ruthlessly ridicule. She actually wrote that I'm cursing my daughter with a terrible and embarrassing name, which really hurt my feelings deeply. I only found out about this whole mess because my husband casually mentioned her forum, so I went to look at it myself.

When I checked the site, everyone in the comments was being so nasty and judgmental about my thoughtful name choice. It stung even more because my in-laws are all strict Catholics, and I specifically picked a Saint name to be respectful to their religious traditions. I honestly thought they'd appreciate the sweet gesture, but instead, I'm dealing with this hurtful public mocking from my own family member.

I was so upset that I immediately sent her an angry email telling her she had no right to share my kid's name online. I told her she shouldn't be holding it up for internet strangers to ridicule, and I also called her a nasty name in the heat of the moment. I know I shouldn't have resorted to name-calling, but I couldn't help my strong emotional reaction after reading all those awful comments.

I'm just so exhausted right now since it's hard enough dealing with painful breastfeeding and endless sleepless nights with a newborn. You'd think family would offer unconditional support during this vulnerable postpartum phase, but she couldn't even give me basic human respect. My

I work in the hospitality industry, and I've spent years managing multiple restaurants for a big company. For a long time, I've been dreaming about opening my own place and running things my way. My girlfriend's family owns an empty commercial property that seemed like the perfect spot.

Her dad shut down his business there, and her parents suggested I rent the space from them. I told them I couldn't pay a huge deposit right away, but they said monthly rent was fine. I actually quit my job and spent most of my days talking to different vendors.

I even started buying kitchen equipment and got the rent agreement papers ready for my licenses. Everything felt like it was finally coming together for my big restaurant dream. Then, after about two weeks, they called me over for dinner because they'd changed their minds.

They told me my girlfriend's sister decided she wanted the same property to start her own business. They thought it was the only way to bring her back to our city. I was pretty heartbroken, but since it's their property, I didn't want to cause a huge fight.

My mom told me I was foolish to quit my job over a verbal agreement. I didn't want to sour my relationship with her family, so I just went low contact. I took another job to pay the bills and tried to move on from the disappointment.

A couple of months later, I found out her sister wasn't doing IT, but was actually opening a restaurant. They didn't have any experience, but they somehow thought running a restaurant was super easy. I skipped their grand opening because of work, and I just minded my own business.

Fast forward six months, and her parents suddenly invited me over for another family dinner. They told me the sister's restaurant wasn't running

Am I wrong for making my pregnant MIL wear a sweater over her white dress at my wedding?

I got married Saturday. My MIL showed up in a white dress. She's eight and a half months pregnant, so I understand her clothing options are limited. A few days before the wedding she injured her ankle and had to wear a boot, so she said she couldn't walk properly in the floor-length dress she'd originally planned to wear. I didn't want her to trip while heavily pregnant, so I tried not to be a bridezilla about it.

But when she arrived, she immediately started screaming at me. She said this is the only dress she has that fits and if I don't like it she'll leave because she's sick of "our s**t." She didn't elaborate on what "our s**t" meant.

I told her that was fine, but I asked if she'd wear a sweater my mom had to cover the white dress. My MIL started crying. She said I was being mean to her and she didn't want to look like a "Sunday school teacher." We argued back and forth. Eventually she put the sweater on while crying.

During the reception, she came up to me and threw the sweater at me. She said her husband told her to take it off and he's furious with me. My husband told her to just leave. She left.

Later that night, her husband posted something on social media. He wrote, "Imagine being so insecure that you let some petty s**t ruin your wedding. I predict a divorce." Now no one's talking to anyone.

I don't know if I overreacted. She wasn't wearing a full wedding gown or anything crazy. It was just a white dress. But it was my wedding and I didn't want her wearing white.

My husband supports me. He says

I don't even know if this applies here, but I hope I can get some honest feedback regardless. For a while now I've been struggling with frequent nightmares that all revolve around my late girlfriend. She passed away two years ago, and dealing with her loss remains a daily struggle.

My bad dreams mostly stem from my chronic lack of sleep. I'm currently in medical school while also raising the young daughter we had together. I can't seem to find enough time to rest properly on most days.

The nightmares always seem to follow the exact same painful pattern every single night. It'll be me with my girlfriend and our daughter having a pleasant time, and then she just abruptly dies. I still shed tears sometimes when I wake up from these visions.

Lately I'm remembering more specific details about my bad dreams as they happen more frequently. Last night something specific stuck with me because it felt remarkably real to experience again. It was an actual memory from a few months prior to her sudden passing.

I was at the airport waiting, and my girlfriend was safely at home. I tried calling and texting her multiple times, but she didn't answer once even though she knew my location. My daughter was with my mother, so in the end I just ordered a ride home alone.

That particular event seems small, and I didn't hold any anger toward her then or now. I wish I had loved her more and spent more quality time with her while she was here. The airport memory being refreshed in my mind made me think of similar past events.

I'm recalling all of our moments together, and I often went out of my way to do things for her. It was always me driving to her place, or me significantly changing my schedule to

I've been dating my boyfriend for a couple of years now, and things are usually fine. We've always had this ongoing argument about me being left out of fun activities. He constantly refuses to invite me to dinners with mutual friends or hobbies I've been asking to try.

There is usually some convincing reason why he forgot to include me, so I try to let it go. However, a recent incident pushed me to my breaking point. For the past year, our coed friend group has been dreaming of taking a trip to another state that holds meaning for us.

Last week, I found out he confirmed going on this group trip with our mutual friends. He told them I couldn't attend, doing so without even asking me about my availability. He informed the group that I was busy with my new job and unable to take off four days for vacation.

I actually managed to get the required vacation time approved by my boss. When I excitedly told him the good news, he shut me down in an instant. He explained that everyone had already booked flights and there wouldn't be any more space in the rental house.

The host had apparently already filled my designated bed with someone else. When I asked why he left me out, he said he figured I couldn't go anyway with work. He made the assumption and declined the invitation on my behalf without sending a single text.

I spoke to the host myself, and she was upset with his handling of the situation. The group had multiple conversations about how they would miss me if I wasn't there. He repeatedly assured them I wasn't able to go due to my new job responsibilities.

She told me she had to fill the extra spots in the rental house to recuperate the total cost.
