West Valley Eagles Track Club

West Valley Eagles Track Club It is through these national competitions that the Eagles are recognized as one of the top Track & Cross Country Clubs in the United States.

The Eagles are a non-profit 501 C-3 youth athletic organization dedicated to helping youth of all skill levels fight childhood obesity, be physically fit, pursue positive goals, and reach higher levels of achievement. The Eagle's History
For over 40 years, the West Valley Eagles Track and Field Club's primary goal has been to motivate and challenge youth to reach higher levels of achievement, and

to channel their energies in a positive way. Founded in 1971 by Dave Hann with just a couple of coaches and a handful of youth, the West Valley Eagles has evolved into one of the most respected and talented youth sports programs. The Eagles routinely have more athletes than any other conference team representing the Conference All-Start Team at the USA Track and Field Age Group Nationals and Junior Olympic Championships. With dedicated volunteer coaches, supportive parents, generous sponsors, and motivated athletes, the West Valley Eagles Track and Field Club has helped thousands of our Community Youth soar. Renowned Eagle Athletes
The Eagles have been a launching point for many world-class track and field athletes and Olympic medal winners, including Quincy Watts, Tyree Washington, Deena Drossin Kastor, Marion Jones, Allyson Felix and Joanna Hayes. Many of the club's fine athletes have set meet and national records through the years. In the 1992 and 1996 U.S. Olympic Trials, eight former Eagles participated and one, Quincy Watts, went on to win two Gold medals and set two Olympic records and one World record at the1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. In 1997 at the World Championships in Athens, Greece the United States led the world with 18 medals. Past Eagles greats Marion Jones and Tyree Washington, returned home with three gold and one bronze medals. Marion Jones, the lone double gold medal winner on the U.S. Team, was recognized as the world's Fastest Woman. In the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia, past Eagle/Comet Deena Drossin Kastor competed in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meter runs and Marian Jones became the first ever track and field athlete to win 5 Olympic medals – 3 gold and 2 bronze. Deena now holds the American record in both the 10,000 meters and the Marathon, and was the silver medalist at the 2002 and 2003 World Cross Country Championships. Six past eagles athletes competed in the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trails and four went on to compete in the 2008 Olympics held in Greece: Joanna Hayes, gold medal in the 100 meter hurdles; Allyson Felix, silver medal in the 200 meters; and Deena Drossin Kastor, bronze medal in the Marathon.
