We specialize in colored gemstones, minerals, fossils, meteorites, stone beads, decor items and natural gifts from the Earth. We do custom jewelry, beading and lapidary work as well as repair jewelry in gold, silver and various metals, re-cut stones and restring beads. Please continue bringing your repair items to this location, since our new location, Burnie's on Park, cannot accept your items for repair.

Alexandrite is June’s primary birthstone. It is highly prized for the stone’s color change appearance under different types of lighting. Alexandrite is an exceptionally rare type of chrysoberyl. The top two stones are lab created and the bottom two are natural. Natural Alexandrite can cost up to $50,000 per carat for high grade stones. Lab created stones are more commonly used in jewelry for their sharp color.

Fibrous malachite is a rare acicular crystal formation. Normally malachite forms in a botryoidal or bubble- like pattern. The spiny crystals show beautifully in the light. We just got some beautiful specimens in at both locations. Come check them out!

June birthstone highlight: Pearls! Pearls fall into two categories: natural and cultured, as well as the environment: saltwater or freshwater. The most popular groups of cultured pearls are freshwater pearls, Akoya Pearls, Tahitian Pearls, and South Sea Pearls.

There are also many types of shapes of pearls, such as button, round, blister, drop, pear, oval, baroque, semi-baroque, and more! The shape of the pearl is often what determines its final setting. Round pearls are most commonly used in necklaces and earrings. While baroque pearls are often used as centerpieces for rings, pendants, and as artistic embellishments as three dimensional bodies of animals/mythical figures.

Some of the rarest pearls on earth are not from oysters or mussels! Conch pearls are a marbled pink, these pearls are not able to be cultured and only occur in 1 in every 10,000 shells. Abalone pearls are also rare due to the marine snails' anatomy. Abalone pearls occur 1 in every 500,000 to 900,000! Melo Melo pearls are also exceedingly rare. These fiery orange pearls are made by the Melo Melo sea snail and a gem grade pearl is 1 in every million!
