As I’ve grown older, I have realized my need to create and try new things, whether it be with flowers, baking sourdough, growing food, trying a new recipe, painting, or making bracelets with my oldest daughter (a current fave in our house)! ⁣

Creating & working with my hands is fuel for my soul. ⁣

Thanks to a recent customer for wanting me to create this extra large centerpiece for a bridal shower. It was a fun one with the draping amaranth.

I’ve always been a sucker for a good Before ➡️ After! ⁣

This summer season of flowers has been a bit different than the last two seasons. Although I’m pretty sure I’ve planted the same amount of flowers compared to previous years🤪, I’ve cut back tremendously on advertising and selling to give me more work/life balance. Well, isn’t that the point, though, to be selling what I’m growing? Well, yes, but I’ve also enjoyed their beauty and the slower pace and I don’t regret it one bit. We’ve gotten back to summer vacations and more family time. Time is fleeting and these kids of mine are growing at warp speed. I’m truly thankful for the ability to be fully present with them, but also continue growing and learning and spreading joy through my flowers. So, thanks for continuing to understand this step back on my end and for still wanting to support me!! It means the world.💕⁣

Y’all, last week was a whirlwind. Teacher appreciation week, subscriptions, Mother’s Day and a pop up 😅 I’m coming up for air now and able to digest all the work I did and feel the gratitude I have for all of your orders and purchases.

Did you know? Flower farmers use tulips as an annual flower by pulling the bulb/as much of the plant out entirely? We don’t leave them in the ground to perennialize! Yes, my mind was blown too after all the research I’ve been doing the last year. But there are good reasons for doing so! ⁣
⁣
1. Added stem length- by pulling the bulb &/or as much of the stem out of the ground as able, we can gain 3-5 inches of length. Longer stems allow us to more freely design in bouquets/bunches ⁣
⁣
2. If you cut the stem at soil level, you’d lose valuable stem length + would need to leave 2-3 leaves in order for the bulb to be able to store energy for the following year. On that note, tulips do not perennialize reliably year after year. For cut flower production, we need reliability. ⁣
⁣
3. Frees up bed space. Bc we pull the plant out, we are able to flip the bed and use for summer flowers. ⁣
⁣
4. Longer Storage! If the bulb remains attached, we can get 4-6 weeks in the cooler. This is great bc it allows us to spread out the work and timing of flowers needed. Even with varieties that are intended to bloom “early, mid, late,” they can still bloom all around the same couple week window.⁣
