Happy Father's Day to the dads, grandfathers, uncles, mentors, and father figures who show up with love every day, and to those whose fathers are being remembered today.

Today, we celebrate the men who provide, protect, encourage, and lead with strength and heart.

And while we often talk about self-care for women, fathers need it too. Dads deserve time to rest, recharge, and pour back into themselves. Because you can't continue pouring from an empty cup.

To all the fathers doing their best and showing up day after day...we see you, we appreciate you, and we celebrate you.

Happy Father's Day. đź’™

Happy June.

Today, we stood in downtown Durham at the Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony in front of the Durham County Courthouse.

As a Black woman, a mother of Black boys, and a downtown Durham business owner, this moment felt deeply personal. It was more than a ceremony. It was a reminder of freedom fought for, history carried, and the responsibility we have to make sure our children understand the power of where they come from.

To stand there with my boys, watching that flag rise, felt like planting a seed. A seed of pride. A seed of remembrance. A seed of hope.

Juneteenth is not just history. It is legacy. It is truth. It is a reminder that freedom should never be taken lightly, and our presence in these spaces matters.

Happy Juneteenth. ❤️🖤💚

Sometimes self-care is not about becoming a new version of yourself.

Sometimes it’s about gently returning to the woman you’ve always been underneath the noise, the responsibilities, the grief, the pressure, and the “I’m fine” you’ve been carrying for everyone else.

Coming back to yourself can be soft.

A deep breath.
A quiet morning.
A candle lit before the house is perfect.
A journal opened with no pressure to have the right words.
A moment where you finally say, “I matter too.”

You don’t have to come back perfectly.
You just have to come back gently.

Happy Self Care Sunday!

Happy Self Care Sunday!

A reminder... sometimes the reset doesn’t need to be loud. It can look like a slow walk.
Fresh air. Sun on your skin. A few deep breaths. A moment to remember that you are allowed to pause.

Nature has a way of bringing us back to ourselves...gently, without asking us to explain why we needed the break.
