I see some new faces around here, so it feels like a good time to do another introduction! If you saw the last one, this one might be better. 👀👩🏾🏭🐊
I’m Sarah Chamorro, an Afro-Latina, Garifuna-Honduran artist and self-taught metalsmith based in New Orleans. 🇭🇳
I spent most of my life between New Orleans and Honduras, growing up between places, cultures, and different ways of seeing the world. That sense of existing between worlds has found its way into my art, where I’m constantly exploring the space between ancient symbols and modern imagery.
I’m still figuring things out, still experimenting, and still chasing the ideas that won’t leave me alone. There’s SO much more I want to create, and I’m excited to bring you along for the ride.
It’s still wild to me that people connect with my work so genuinely. That something I felt so strongly pulled to create can evoke that same feeling in someone else. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for being here and feeling that pull, too. 🖤 Now I wanna know who’s here! Are you an artist, a jewelry collector, someone who loves all things weird and wonderful, or just a curious soul who stumbled across my work? 👀 Tell me a little about yourself in the comments!
Welcome to my little corner of the internet. 🐊
