BECAUSE I’M BEAD, YOU KNOW IT… 🪡🖤
I swear this wasn’t planned at all, but when I finished hand-stitching this piece, I placed it over my vinyl record and realized... it’s the EXACT same scale as Michael’s silhouette on the album cover. It literally looks like he’s stepping right off the record and coming to life in 3D! (Swipe through the carousel to see how seamlessly the micro-mosaic aligns with his torso! ➡️)
Creating this hyper-detailed portrait brooch was a true labor of love because the Bad era represents everything I adore about visual culture, music, and fashion history.
Released in 1987, Bad wasn’t just an album, it was an era of unprecedented artistic confidence. Michael redefined global pop culture with sharp leather silhouettes, metal buckles, immaculate choreography, and a sound that was bolder, darker, and more cinematic than anything before it.
And of course, a special tribute must be paid to the legendary Martin Scorsese, who directed the iconic 18-minute short film for Bad.
Scorsese brought a gritty, theatrical, and cinematic depth to Michael’s vision, cementing this look as one of the most immortal style moments in pop history.
Translating such a culturally massive legend into a miniature wearable art piece took thousands of micro-seed beads, quite a few broken needles, and 80+ hours of precision hand-embroidery. Every single bead was placed with a needle to honor the craftsmanship of an era that continues to inspire artists, designers, and visionaries worldwide.
This bespoke brooch was crafted as a contemporary art homage to the King of Pop so he knows how much love he left behind in this world. 🖤
