Her success stems from a background as a third generation jeweler, growing up in her family's atelier, subsequently earning her B.A. degree at Parsons The New School for Design. In 1993, Mimi So opened a retail boutique in New York City. For several years, she was primarily a fine jewelry retailer who produced custom bridal sets for clients including celebrities. From working with the leading ladies of HBO's 'S*x and the City’, to working with Grammy Award winning stars and Hollywood starlets, Mimi quickly drew a large following. Mimi’s clients trust her to provide the statement-making accessories to complete any outfit on and off the red carpet. Mimi So wholesale business debuted in 2000 at Neiman Marcus precious jewelry salons across the U.S. Her jewelry is also at Harrods in London and Isetan in Tokyo, among other locations. Mimi is extremely passionate about her art, and has a tremendous depth of knowledge about the craft of making jewelry and what women desire in their jewelry. One of her top priorities is quality. "Memories are priceless and should last more than a lifetime." Mimi So product design, materials sourcing and jewelry fabrication are all done in-house. Mimi So collections represent a modern classic sensibility, and combined with her talent and expertise for jewelry design, the collections are marketed at viable prices. Mimi So is a pioneer jewelry designer in the world of fashion. She was the first fashion luxury jewelry designer to be inducted the industry's leading trade group, the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
