June is one of my absolute favorite months because it's full of good memories and celebrations!
πβοΈπ₯π
I've been a bit nostalgic lately thinking about our roots as artists and a couple, and wanted to share the Ascendant pieces Chris wears everyday. I'm so happy that he is piling on jewelry again! When we first met, he had long hair and wore so much jewelry he jingledπ. (Swipe to the end to see baby us lol)
We met in art school at SIUE in 2010. I've mentioned some of my own family ties to metals before, but many of you might not know that Chris' mom is a very renowned metalsmith and educator, Paulette Myers. She's actually the reason him and I met. I chose SIUE for my MFA studies specifically to learn under her. She's most well known for her extensive and innovative research in creating heat-induced textures with different alloys through the processes of reticulation and perforation, the latter of which she discovered. Swipe to see a few of her amazing vessels. She's one of my earliest and most important mentors and also now my familyπ₯°. I'm even lucky enough to have a copy of her groundbreaking thesis.
I went into that program knowing I would learn and grow in ways I could only imagine, but what I absolutely never expected was that I'd also meet my soulmate. It was like love and inspiration hit me like a lightening bolt striking twiceβ‘οΈβ€οΈβπ₯. This month we not only get to celebrate our 10 year wedding and homeownership anniversaries, but also Chris' birthday and a big family reunion, too. I included some fun memories throughout the years. Thanks for indulging my nostalgia! Can't wait for the Emerine reunion!π
