New Works/
This project has been a long time in the making & is a culmination of my love of flowers & everything botanical, along with photography & design. Starting around a year ago it all began with a huge help from my wonderful husband Carl, as we worked together to pull a huge amount of rocks out of the ground to prepare the soil for three 30’ long flower garden beds. A long process of spending the winter studying & researching plants & their holistic properties, planning every detail, selecting the seeds, growing hundred’s of seedlings indoors & transplanting them into the ground, caring for them as they grew, & then finally harvesting & preserving the flowers.
Before the flowers went into preservation, I would create these still life arrangements & photograph them. Inspired by the paintings of 17th Century Dutch masters & John W. Waterhouse, I aimed to emulate the feeling with these botanical arrangements that illuminate from the moody dark backgrounds. Mixing fresh cut flowers with dried flowers to show their beauty during every stage of life, adding foraged ferns, dreamy grasses & arranging them into beautiful vintage vases to preserve their beauty.
As a way to be able to enjoy flowers all year long, I’ll be offering these original photographs as gicleé, museum grade archival prints
