Kirsten is a recent graduate of Fashion Institute of Technology, with a Bachelors of Arts degree in International Fashion Design. She spent a year and a half studying in Italy, in Florence and Milan, then finished up her studies in New York City. Kirsten grew up in Port Tobacco MD, near Washington DC. She started sewing in the 4th grade, making tote bags and simple
clothing. She started with sewing lessons at a Sew and Vac store, then had private lessons from her Home Ec teacher in high school. An early entrepreneur, she made purses, wallets and jewelry to sell to her friends in school. She also made Duck Tape roses to sell at Valentine's Day. She has sewn every gown she wore to dances in high school. She also made prom gowns for several of her friends. Kirsten was thrilled to be accepted into the Fashion Design program at FIT, which has about a 15% acceptance ratio. She had to choose between Fashion Design and Accessories Design, but enjoys both. With her studies complete, she is excited to launch her own business, KIRS10. She will concentrate on contemporary sportswear, costumes, and accessories.
