Story time: when I traveled to Zimbabwe and met Patrick Mavros… and discovered the story behind his jewelry. 🇿🇼✨

While in Zimbabwe, I had the opportunity to meet Patrick Mavros and experience his incredible jewelry firsthand — but what stuck with me most wasn’t just how beautiful the pieces were. It was the history, craftsmanship, and meaning behind them.

One detail that especially caught my attention was the ndoro and the cultural significance it carries. Learning about its history gave me an entirely new appreciation for how jewelry can represent so much more than style — it can carry generations of heritage, identity, and storytelling.

It’s one thing to see a beautiful piece of jewelry. It’s another to meet the people behind it, learn where the inspiration comes from, and understand the story it represents. 🤍

Safe to say, this was one of those travel experiences I’ll never forget.

One of my favorite things to do in Zimbabwe is visit Patrick Mavros to see all his beautiful pieces. This cuff reminds me of the “newspaper”you read outside your tent on safari. The footprints in the sand tell you the news of what animals walked past you overnight. This looks like a lion or leopard to me.
