It’s world ballet day!! I was so focused on a deadline that I almost let today slip by, but I happened to go to ballet class tonight for the reminder.

First pic is from my fav ballet moment this year; this summer’s Nikya workshop with - a teacher who’s changed my life completely. It was the most fun I had all year as a dancer. The workshop was hard work that paid off with practice. An incredible feeling.

Second pic is me doing almost the same pose at age 3 😭 We danced to the theme of The King and I, and I still remember the feeling of being on stage in costume with all the lights and people in the audience.

Last two pics are from ballet class in Paris last month. I was so intimidated (I don’t speak much French), but I kept up and the teacher even called my style Balanchine, which was super validating, considering I dance in NYC where Balanchine is king.

Working at something week after week, year after year, amongst friends and community has been so helpful to my overall wellbeing, idk where the heck I’d be without ballet.

This year marks my 12th year of returning to ballet as an adult. I’m constantly humbled, but also so proud of myself. Ballet is a constant in my life that I continue to look forward to.
