According to Macri,“The beauty of modern architecture is that there are many hidden complexities just outside of view.” As a jewelry designer, Macri creates collections utilizing her past work and appreciation of the unseen details. Take for instance her first collection, the I-beam necklace. Inspired by the I-beam used in steel construction, this humble shape, a simple extrusion of the capital letter I, is the ideal intersection of lightness and strength. Also, Also... The thing about the “Hidden Message” necklace is that it is beautiful, not only in its simplicity, but the simplicity emerges from the complicated both geometrically and emotionally (see what I did there?). Maybe I’m overthinking it. That’s entirely possible.

I guess I’ve collected some jewelry over the years 😳.

Along with some brilliant designers (and a very special antique 👩‍❤️‍👨) some of these cherished pieces are a few of my favorite creations that have literally never been offered for sale on my website. Why? I was too busy managing a business that scaled WAY to quickly with a very complicated, handmade product.

Now that things have calmed down ( ) I have been able to take a step back and reflect on everything I have learned along the way. I don’t want to continue this business if I can’t be creative, but this business doesn’t allow me to be creative. I feel stuck sometimes just with the overwhelm of my to-do list. So, hey business people 👋🏻. Any words of advice?

Letters that represent a profound injustice should not be hidden, but voiced loudly. 2020 has been a dumpster fire, but it has illuminated previously ignored issues that need to be addressed. I’m listening and learning everyday. I’m humbled and saddened, but hopeful.
