A Special Electric Device from 102 Years Ago!

This is called a Mercury arc rectifier, and it was found inside a really old elevator that's over 100 years old!

What does it do?
This device changes electricity from one type to another. There are two types of electricity:

AC (Alternating Current) - electricity that switches direction back and forth, like the power in your house

DC (Direct Current) - electricity that flows in only one direction, like in batteries

Why was it needed?
Old elevators needed DC electricity to run their motors, but buildings get AC electricity from power plants. So this mercury arc rectifier acted like a translator, converting the AC power into DC power the elevator could use.

Cool fact: Inside this device, there's liquid mercury (a shiny silver metal) that glows with a bright blue light when electricity passes through it!

Works just like a corkscrew… the spiral shape of the root/vine is twisted in the opposite direction of the spiraling diamagnetic flow in the water…

This creates a suction/attraction effect, which pulls the vine/root with zero friction and almost no effort.

Without friction there’s no loss of energy I.e. energy becomes free and unlimited.
