The Pre-Raphaelite and Art Nouveau design movements are important influences for sculptor Naomi Sarna. A masterpiece of sculpting, Naomi Sarna’s Winter Bird, Spring Greens was awarded the Silver Medal from the Zi Gang Bei International Jade Competition in Suzhou, China. Winning this award was an especially big honor for Sarna, as very few jade carvers outside of China are given this accolade. In this extraordinary 222.50-carat Burmese Jadeite sculpture, Sarna depicts the moment when winter turns to spring as a graceful bird glides through the season’s early greens. Winter Bird, Spring Greens is mounted on a base of darkened Silver that sits atop Rock Crystal sourced from the Avant Mine in Arkansas.

Sculptor Naomi Sarna was awarded the bronze medal from the Zi Gang Bei International Jade Competition in Suzhou, China for her Mossy River Pendant. She hand-carved Nephrite Jade into a 169-carat pendant, evocative of flowing water found deep within the forest. The pendant is adorned with a waterfall of precious Diamonds and is suspended from a necklace of shimmering Black Spinel beads, finished with Naomi’s signature 18-karat White Gold and Diamond clasp. Mossy River was displayed at the Wilensky Gallery show “Stone in Motion” a solo exhibition of Sarna’s art.

A graceful seahorse swims tranquilly through a forest of seaweed, displaying the unique beauty of Burmese Jadeite. Diverging from her more abstract sculpting style Naomi Sarna, hand-carved a piece of lavender and green Jadeite into a 650-carat Seahorse. Jade Seahorse emerged as Naomi was sculpting natural discolorations out of the Jade. While she was carving, Sarna noticed the Jadeite evolving into seaweed floating in ocean water, as Naomi continued to sculpt, a stunning seahorse arose from the seaweed. Jade Seahorse floats on a bronze base with a special patina, that Sarna created using heat.

This splendid Burmese Jade Seahorse sculpture has been displayed in two exhibitions: “Exploring the Complex Curve” at Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks and Minerals, 2023 and the group show “Gemstone Masterpieces” at Wilensky Gallery, New York City, 2020.

Evening’s dusky sky as day turns to dark is depicted in this 92-carat Lavender Quartz Purple Illusion pendant, hand-carved by sculptor Naomi Sarna. The fluid lines of the sculpture suggest the shifting evening light, while diamonds, set in 18-karat White Gold sparkle like the first stars in the night sky. Purple Illusion, which won a Gemmy Award from the Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artist’s Design Competition, is suspended from an Amethyst and Iolite necklace featuring Sarna’s signature clasp in precious 18-karat White Gold.

Reminiscent of the elusive patterns formed in water as evening breezes and underwater flowers sway together, Undersea Floral is a 354-carat Amethyst carving that appears to be simultaneously casting shadows and creating light, a signature of sculptor Naomi Sarna’s art. Undersea Floral, which floats on a Sterling Silver base, won an American Gem Trade Association Spectrum Award for Carving. Sculptor Naomi Sarna was inspired by the intricate art of fabric folding while she was hand-carving a lush Rose de France Amethyst into the opulent 1,015-carat Imperial Presence. A miniature sculpture set in precious Platinum, sculptor Naomi Sarna hand-carved an Amethyst into an abstract 27.30-carat centerpiece for the Purple Twilight Ring. The curves and contours of the artfully sculpted Amethyst make it appear to float like a voluptuous cloud in the evening sky. The flowing lines of the ring are adorned with ribbons of shimmering diamonds, creating a contrast of texture and light between the glossy Amethyst and the faceted Diamonds.
