⚔️ Important Festival of Champions Location Update ⚔️
Greetings Denizens of Hynafol,
After carefully reviewing the weather conditions and out of concern for the safety and comfort of our community, we have made the decision to move Festival of Champions from River Forest Haven to a safer, more weather-conducive location.
Festival of Champions is moving to Sherwood Forest Faire.
The event is NOT cancelled.
The event will still take place as scheduled, but will now be held at Sherwood Forest Faire.
We chose this location for several important reasons:
🏕️ Camping: There is plenty of space, and we know where the dry areas are.
🛣️ Roads: Sherwood’s roads will be traversable.
🏰 Safety: In the event of inclement weather, there are covered buildings available, including the Great Hall in case of emergency.

Dates: May 22–25
Gates Open: 8:00 a.m.
Early Arrival: May 21 at 12:00 p.m.
Late Departure: May 26 by 12:00 p.m.
The core event experience remains unchanged:
⚔️ Tournaments, combat activities, and event rules will remain the same.
🏕️ Decorum and non-decorum camping will still be available.
🍖 Food service and amenities, including showers and flushing toilets, will continue as scheduled.
🎭 Roleplay, LARP activities, and community activities will proceed as planned in a safer environment.
We understand that a venue change can create inconvenience, and we sincerely appreciate everyone’s flexibility and support. Our priority is making sure everyone can still enjoy an incredible Festival of Champions together despite the weather challenges.

FAQ
Where do I check in?
At the front gate of Sherwood Forest Faire. Use the address above and look for signs.
Where do I park?
Sherwood Forest Faire has a large parking lot with plenty of space.
Where will non-decorum camping be located?
Non-decorum camping will be located on the Participant Side of Sherwood Forest Faire’s site. This will allow easy access to the event, restrooms, and showers.
Will the flushing toilets be turned on?
Yes. The flushing toilets near the front gate will be available for the duration of the event.
Will there be showers?
Yes. There will be showers available just a short walk away.
Will the bar be open?
Yes. Sherwood staff will graciously be opening the Lionheart Tavern daily for service. Please purchase drinks from the bar and tip your bartenders generously for working a holiday weekend on short notice.
Will the bar menu change?
Yes. The bar menu will be different than originally advertised and will use the standard Sherwood Forest bar menu.
Will meals still be served on site?
Yes. Heidrun’s Run will be on site for the duration of the event and will be serving their menu.
Will decorum camping be inside the village?
Yes. Decorum camping will be inside a designated area of the village. It is a large space, but please listen to Hynafol staff and volunteers when arriving for directions on acceptable setup areas.
Where will the tournaments be held?
The tournaments will be held in the Joust. The sunshades will be up, and there will be plenty of benches for cheering throughout the day.
I’m bringing an RV. Is there still room close to the event space for me to park it?
Yes. There is room for RVs. If you have pre-registered an RV, we will send you an email today with instructions and updates.
Will there be an updated event map?
Yes. Once we are situated with the site, we will redraw the event map and post it as soon as possible.
