Rochester Women's Race

Rochester Women's Race The Rochester Women's Race is an all women running event held at the end of July. It is a 4 mile run around Silver Lake.

The course is flat and paved and a little over 2 loops around the lake.

This year the 36th year of the race and it will be on Saturday, July 25th at 8:30 am at East Silver Lake Park. This year we are making it very convenient for you to register online with no processing fee. Please go to http://rochestertrackclub.com/main.asp?SectionID=3&SubSectionID=28&ArticleID=765&TM=4286.272 to register for the race. Pre-registration fees are good until July 15th. Please try to register early to guarantee yourself the race gift.

And now about the race yesterday. Thank you so much to all who came to run and volunteer. The weather was so not like Women's Race weather, cool and not very sunny... perfect for running but alittle chilly for underdressed volunteers... I think I shivered the whole time ! Congratulations to Mary Chestolowski , a repeat over all winner with an awesome time of 24:09. She just keeps getting faster ! I hope you are enjoying your delicious blueberry pie baked by the best pie maker around and my dear friend Mary Dobberke... thanks Mare !
Yesterday's race had 92 runners with 90 finishers. The youngest runner was 12 and the oldest 72. My great volunteers once again made the race run so smoothly and congratulations to all of you award winners and I thank you for your patience with me. They will be on their way and I will contact you . I'm hoping to post photos soon.
Looking forward to the 35th Annual Rochester Women's Race next year.. and maybe for the 1st time I will be one of the runners :) Oh, and if anyone is interested in race directing the Women's Race - there is already someone lined up to make the awards so it would be co-directing with you being in charge of race details, please contact me or the Rochester Track Club. Myself and/or others would be happy to train you in :) Happy running !

What can I say but WOW !!! Thank you, thank you Julie Yost, Lin Gentling, Deb Thomford, and RTC for the unbelievable, wonderful retirement thank you celebration at the race yesterday with the 91 runners and volunteers. It was sooo cool... and just not weather- wise ! Wow , what an honor ! July 27, 2013 proclaimed by the mayor of Rochester, Jeanne Block Day , a beautiful photo book of memories, the gorgeous flowers and a special hand crafted runner that Deb is putting together for me, signed by runners. It's hit me... I've retired from the Women's Race after 30 years ! I've got my moments of real sadness, but at the same time I know that the Lord was leading me in this direction . I have been so blessed to have had the opportunity to be the race director all of these years. I've loved it and retire with sadness but knowing it is time, and looking forward with excitement to new leadership for the race and the chance for someone else to love it as much as I did. Thank you to my wonderful family for all of their support year after year and thank you to all of you who have volunteered to help in the race or run in the race all of these years. You are why I loved it :) With my thanks and love, Jeanne

Looks like Saturday is going to be a beautiful day...highs in the low 70's. Should be a great day for a run around Silver Lake ! Come and run and have some fun ! :)

An update on online registration:
Online registration will only be available until July 23rd. After that date you can still register by either mailing your registration or registering the day of the race from 7:15-8:20 at the Silver Lake East Pavilion. Come and run :)
