F and C Creations F and C Creations designs and builds wearable art for the customer looking for something unique and special to adorn themselves with.

We strive to elevate the jewelry retail experience, creating every work with care and love. F and C Creations is a jewelry art company. I started this business with the hope and desire to create wearable pieces of art for the everlasting enjoyment of those who are looking for something unique and special to adorn themselves with. Through the years my company has taken on many iterations, but has always led back to the idea as jewelry in it's highest form is not a commercialized trend, but a work of art. Every design is considered and engineered to achieve the maximum aesthetic potential. I don't necessarily prescribe to a style, though my style appears more contemporary, I design pieces that are appealing to me. My style prefers geometric shapes and often uses negative spaces. The one concrete overall defining characteristic though is color; lots of it! Here at F and C Creations we love using different colors: colored metals, colored stones, inlay, etc. We combined colors using color theory to create pieces like an artist would create a painting. We use a variety of techniques from the modern use of CAD and 3d printers to traditional goldsmithing techniques of hand fabrication. All the stones are set by hand which produce a cleaner and finer looking result than presets used in CAD builders. We take no shortcuts that would result in the lessening of the final outcome of the art work. Efficiency cannot come at the cost of the ex*****on. I believe that art doesn't necessarily mean expensive, but it means well designed and expertly crafted. This can be applied to anything from the inexpensive to the higher spectrums of luxury (but this means that you won't find a diamond tennis bracelet for $1k in our catalogue. We care too much about our customers to bait them in with a deceptively cheap, poorly made product). I strive to elevate the retail jewelry experience and so the joy my customers get when wearing the work of my mind and hands. I love what I do and care deeply about the craft I've devoted my life to learning and so that is how I make each and every piece: with care and love.

What does getting things done look like? Like high stress, plans going sideways, putting out fires, and not developing an unhealthy coping mechanism to escape from it. It's been a long hard month and a half. Suffered some set backs, but this did come through for me which was big. For a minute I thought county zoning was not going to let this happen, but it did. I can now legally engrave fi****ms, which after every other plan has been indefinitely delayed, I now have an avenue for this skill set I've been able to do little with up to this point. No shortage of local gun shows in the South, so time to get at it and see what's possible.

Soooo, this is part of what has been consuming my life lately. In a bid to apply to juried art shows, I'm having to learn how to become my own product photographer. This is not easy. I'm paying good money to be taught how to take the RAW images so they can be edited and focus stacked, I spent 12 hours shooting and will have to reshoot the rings.

I broke out my art show set up today after buying it a year ago. I don't have the track lighting up or the curtains for the walls, but that's besides the point.

My plan was to start applying for art shows this month, and with every plan I've ever made, it doesn't matter how much you plan, reality will dictate what your real plans are. In this case I'm still months away and there's a lot more I have to do to give myself a shot at passing through the jury process. It's a little disheartening: I'm not getting younger and trying to keep another diverticulitis flare up from getting out of hand while trying to get through the checklist to be able to apply has knocked the wind out of me. It is what it is and certain things just can't be rushed.

Hopefully after the new year I'll be in a better position and I'll have all the signage, merchandising, website, and enough pieces to constitute an actual body of work instead of just a half a dozen pieces so far.

Just keep going.

I've had a TON going on and lots to share but too busy to share it. Starting a new project. This doesn't look like much, but it's not as easy as it looks.

I've long studied the pinned reel of a high jeweler to figure out how to make a domed oval, that's perfectly flat on the bottom, with no oval dapping block (I have one but the available sizes are very limited). I had recently bought some forming tools and hammers I've long wanted to have and I got to finally put them to work. The process wasn't pretty but I pulled it off and I have a better idea about how to do it, so next time I'll hopefully be able to refine the process. This is going to be a ring in the vein of the black and gold theme I've been on. The next pieces after that will focus on different colored patinas.

Getting close. All the gold components are about done, some small stone setting still to do. I'm going to make a chain for it. This is the last piece to complete for the application process into some juried art shows.

A few nights ago, I almost smashed this thing with a hammer out of frustration. There were some glaring issues I could not live with. I decided to tear it apart (which it's not in a state to be able to really do that) and fix it, and if I couldn't fix it, I'd have to start over. I was up until 2:30 in the morning with it. In the end I got to where the problems disappeared and got it back together with no new issues appearing. I'm not going to make this particular design again but I figured out how to do things better the next time around if I try to do something similar (spoiler alert, I've already got two more similar ideas to make this a short one-off series).

I've had a lot of conversations with myself making this piece and I'm trying not to self sabotage or delay myself in finishing it, because once it's done, then I'll have to actually do what I've been saying I'm going to do, and in some ways it's both exciting and terrifying at the same time.

Long time ago I watched the movie Collateral with my wife. There's a monologue by Tom Cruise's character about Jamie Fox's character's dream of having his own limo company. It's been living rent free in my head for a week now.

Make it happen.

Me and my rehabilitated hobo cat. Who'd have thought this angry, distrustful stray I started feeding a year ago would turn out to be such a snuggle butt.

It's been a rough few weeks in some ways since coming back from GRS culminating in me and an account parting ways. I tried to make a few videos on it but they all run overlong so I'll probably just post it on my page.

The gist of my failed attempt at a brief account of the last few weeks is that I'm not going to get to where I want to go easy, but it's time to make the move. I've been trying for months to move in the fashion of how I had planned to, but the soft landing, the smooth transition is an illusion and I'm not getting out of this without faith and hanging my butt out in the wind more than I'd like too.

Come what may, I can't stay where I'm at and I can't expect opportunity to show up if I do nothing to change the situation. I'm capable of more than I'm allowed to do and I'm determined to find my people out there who see and appreciate the same things I do.
