I just got back from two weeks in France and of course we had to spend the first few days in Paris, city of love and light. It was a feast of art and beauty, and here are only a few highlights of what had my heart swooning.

I was thrilled to see some incredible Lalique jewelry masterpieces at Musée d'Orsay (that poppy was as large as the span of my hand!). They have an entire wing dedicated to art nouveau filled with decorative arts and complete recreated interiors. Other highlights were the stained glass domed ceiling at Galeries Lafayette (sadly their lingerie department is a fraction of what it was when I was there last 10 years ago), this incredible gilded screen at Lanvin and this couture embroidery sample at MAD PARIS

A little love today for a whole lotta ring… The Rush sculptural ring sweeps boldly along the top of the hand. Like a cresting wave or a lick of flame, it is definitely for the woman who refuses to be contained. How fabulous does it look paired with a brutalist style, too?!

The waxes have left the studio 🙌

After an intensive stretch of working in wax, I dropped off the newest forms to be cast in bronze. Wax is where I begin to capture a sense of fluid ribbons in motion.

Casting transforms that gesture into metal, but what comes back is only the beginning. The raw bronze will be rough. From there, I’ll spend days sanding, refining and sculpting the metal by hand until the final form is revealed.

For now, the work is somewhere between wax and metal. I can’t wait to get my hands on it again!

Returning to my roots.

Before jewelry, I spent years designing and making luxury lingerie, working with silk, lace and ribbon, and learning how fabric folds, drapes and moves around the body.

As I explore this new body of work, I keep finding myself drawn back to that tactile language. Today’s experiments: folded ribbons, sketches and the beginnings of ideas for bringing softness and luminous color into conversation with sculptural metal.

I don’t know exactly where it’s going yet. That’s the exciting part.

My favorite way to sculpt with wax is to use a hot tool to melt it as I carve out a gestural shape. It lets me play with finding the balance of intentionality and spontaneity. And it lends itself to creating fluid forms that have a sense of movement.

I love how the same fluid form takes on an entirely different energy as it multiplies. Each one moves with the wearer, catches the light, and makes its own kind of statement.

I’m about to begin my second collection. Can I admit something? I’m not entirely sure what I’m made of as a designer.

Creating a first collection was about asking, Can I do this? Creating my second feels different. It’s asking, Who am I as an artist?

That’s both exhilarating… and a little terrifying.

I wrote a reflection about standing at the edge of this next chapter and the unexpected inspiration that’s leading me forward.
