These rings began as lava.
I dug it by hand from volcano beds in Bali. Bathed it in purified water and coconut oil. Dried it in the Balinese sun. Then carried it to a temple near the volcano β a temple so sacred that when the volcano erupted, the lava flowed around it and left it untouched.
There it was blessed.
From Bali it traveled to Jaipur, India, where a stone cutter whose family has worked gemstones for generations cut it like a precious gem. A silversmith I have worked beside for thirty years set it by hand.
There is no other piece like this one in the world.
Because some things are beautiful all the way through. No guilt in the making. No harm hidden in the supply chain. Just the Earth β and human hands that honored it from the very beginning.
This is Kupu-kupu. The Indonesian word for butterfly. Named for a life spent transforming.
