There is incredible beauty to be found in our flaws. Take this antique opal ring, for example.

The center opal has developed crazing over its long life. One of the hand-cut diamonds in the halo carries a small chip. By modern standards, these imperfections would be considered flaws.

And yet...

Likely more than a century after it was made, this ring still catches the light. The opal still flashes with color. The hand-cut diamonds still sparkle. People still stop to admire it.

Perhaps beauty was never about perfection.
