Day 1 of Pride Center Of Maryland is officially in the books. 🌈

One of my favorite moments from today was a visit from a customer who bought a pair of our Pride flower earrings last year. She stopped by to tell me she still wears them all the time, gets compliments constantly, and loves them just as much now as she did when she first brought them home.

As a maker, hearing stories like that never gets old.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shopped small, shared kind words, and celebrated with us today. We’re restocking, recharging, and doing it all again tomorrow.

We’re bringing the ear art to Druid Hill Park this Saturday and Sunday for Baltimore Pride!

You’ll find The Dappled Wood at one of Baltimore’s biggest celebrations of community, creativity, and self-expression. Expect live entertainment, food vendors, community organizations, and hundreds of amazing small businesses.

And because Pride calls for something a little extra…

We’ll have a limited number of rainbow rings and matching studs available exclusively at the event.

One thing I’m always thinking about is how to make our booth feel more like The Dappled Wood.

The challenge is that every improvement has to earn its place. When you’re setting up and breaking down a temporary storefront every weekend, even small additions can become a headache if they add too much time, weight, or complexity.

These lace curtains are our newest booth upgrade, and I love what they add to the space. They soften the tent, create a cozy backdrop for the jewelry, and help bring a little bit of that woodland-inspired feeling into our market setup.

Best of all? They pack down small, go up quickly, and don’t make load-in any more challenging.

Just another example of the constant balancing act of small business ownership: making things better while keeping them practical.

One of my favorite parts about being a small business owner is that sometimes the answer is simply, “Sure, I can do that.”

These Sabine earrings in Tulips started as one of our larger statement flower styles. But after wearing them for a while, this customer realized she loved the look and color combination, she just wanted them a little smaller.

So she reached out.

Now they’re sized down to our standard 2.5-inch flower size and headed back home to her.

If you’ve ever purchased one of our extra-large Sabine flowers, you’ve probably heard me say the same thing at the booth: if they’re a little bigger, bolder, or heavier than what feels comfortable, just let me know. I’m happy to resize them whenever possible.

That’s one of the things I love most about shopping small. You’re not dealing with a giant company or an automated customer service form. You’re working directly with the person who made the earrings.

Sometimes that means custom colors. Sometimes that means repairs. And sometimes it means giving your favorite pair a second life in a size that feels more like you.

Three sisters. Three different states. One weekend together. 💛

One of my favorite parts of vending is getting to meet people whose stories I never would have heard otherwise.

These sisters stopped by the booth while spending time together and somehow each found a Gemma Antique Stone ring that felt like them while still matching the group. Seeing them compare colors, swap opinions, and help each other choose was such a fun moment.

The Gemma rings only debuted last month, and they’ve quickly become one of our most requested pieces. We’re working on a restock now, and I can’t wait to bring even more color options to the booth.

The best product photos aren’t always the ones I take.

Sometimes they’re the moments that happen after someone leaves the booth.

This beautiful customer .seck picked up a pair of our floral earrings during in NYC and later spent the day modeling for looking absolutely radiant.

Seeing customers glow in our pieces in their own way will never get old.

Three packages. Three completely different customers.

What I love about running The Dappled Wood is that no two days look exactly the same.

Today, these packages are headed to:

🍃 A retailer placing a wholesale order
⭐️ A brand collaboration partner
🛍️ A customer picking up a custom order

Different customers. Different goals. Different destinations.

But each one represents someone choosing to work with my small business, and that never gets old.

Sometimes growth doesn’t look like one giant milestone. Sometimes it looks like three packages waiting to head out the door.
