365 days as a full time business owner.
My whole life if you asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I easily, without hesitation, in the peppiest little Malayna voice “A stay at home mom, wife, & business owner.” … Yes, this came from a 6 year olds mouth.
Senior year of high school rolled around, I was hospital homebound due to debilitating migraines. Later we found out, it was caused by stress — AKA the school system pushing so hard to make me choose a college & career path asap. I cried more times than any senior should. I knew with every ounce of my being, college WAS NOT for me. But — I also had no clue what I wanted to do because the “stay at home mom, wife, & business owner” wasn’t going to cut it at the ripe age of 18.
So straight into nannying I went. 3 years of pure Heaven on earth. Goodness, I could write a book about nannying & what all that season consisted of. That was my whole entire heart, & most times, you still can catch me with a kiddo holding my hand or on my hip.
During that time, I was doing the best of both worlds. Nannying & doing art on the side. Art took off bigger than expected. I was nannying from 7-5:30ish then headed home to work from 7-3am ish almost nightly. I couldn’t keep up with both, but letting my nanny babies go would be HARD.
3 weeks, last year, prior to today - I felt the nudge, pull, & tug that the Lord was calling me to truly get out of the boat & fully rely on Him to let me walk on water. I was beyond nervous about the $$ side of it, my heart was BROKEN to leave my babies, & well, obedience is hard ya’ll.
But I did it, today, a year ago. I gave Jesus the biggest “Yes!” And asked Him to take the reins.
And boy did He. He is good. So darn good to me.
365 days. Booked solid. No slack weeks. & an income that takes care of me well.
This is a living testament of God’s goodness. Faithfulness. & where a forever “Yes” to the Lord takes you.
God knew what I needed. He seen my customers, my orders, & my business way before I did.
To the newly graduates - DREAM BIG kiddos. Start somewhere that makes YOU happy. You don’t have to have your whole life planned out at 18, that’s almost unrealistic. If nannying makes you happy, start there. If Dairy Queen makes you happy, start there. Start where YOUR heart is leaning towards … pray, seek Him, & then allow Him to choose your college & career path.
I am living proof that He shows up. Even when we have no earthly idea where to put our first step outside of the high school halls.
Again, He is good. He is faithful.
Trust Him. Take the step out of the boat, & watch the waters that He allows you to walk on.
So today, 365 days in, I am giving, in the biggest, most loudest voice, tons of Thank Yous.
To my customers - I adore you.
To my family - boy y’all have seen it all. ILY!
To my heavenly Father - You are my whole entire heart. Thank you for the plans you wrote out.
This year. 365 days.
One whole year of a blissful dream 💕✨🎨
