61 years old in I more day

6 decades plus and didn’t think I’d live past 35 or told I would not live past 35 with the dreaded diagnosis but what we don’t know we don’t know
From that point forward I lived my life as full and crazy as each day was the last.
Many ask or wonder why I’ve done so many crazy things in my life , well uncertainty I think breeds a why not attitude and a well if I don’t do it now I don’t want to be on my death bed wondering why I was so afraid what’s the worst that can happen I might die ? Then who the f**k cares what anyone else thinks what does it matter what mattered was that we live and love we live each moment and love those who support us.

I achieved some wonderful goals after the death sentence and also lost some direction along the way, being told your going to die is not something that goes away, you face that reality everyday even when the science and the meds change the course, something inside many of us does not believe this, maybe it’s lack of trust of the powers that be or a childhood of mistrust that can make it hard to believe.
Well 61 here I come and I find myself challenging myself once again to get the hell out of my comfort zone and to believe that there is still more to do and others who belive that I can and that creates wanting to be better to stay healthy to be fit so that we can be the best we can be
I am not perfect at it by any means , I have my vices my weaknesses
But I laugh when people say to me
You should not eat so much ice cream
You should not drink Diet Coke
You should not smoke that cigarette
Well I’m a human and I like all of you have faults or not faults but things that others don’t agree with but yours are none of my business and mine none of yours and I laugh because if you only knew all the other things I’ve done over the years these vices are nothing
So get over it and live it, live life to its fullest I may die tomorrow I may be around way longer than necessary but I’m going to bring it on and keep the spirt of life alive till then
And yes exercise is probably the most important thing we can do to say fit and youthful

There was a time when a little dog taught me to look at the world through her eyes.
Yes my Samed I’ve been thinking of her a lot as of late I can’t believe it’s been over 6 years that she left , for the 10 years that she was with me she showed me everyday what love is.
Those that don’t know I found Samed on the island of Koh Samed while living in Thailand.
Leaving America I moved to Thailand to get as far away from the life I had created being that guy with the big jewelry brand. A world where perfection is the rule there was little room for anything that did not check the boxes. When I first got to that place of success I enjoyed the perks the amenities that being recognized for what you have created was great until it was not so great, I moved to Bangkok and after a few months there I am on holiday on the island of Koh Samed and in walks Samed , I should clarity that as metaphorically she walked because thats what she could never do. It’s a long joyful story but the biggest lesson I learned was day 1 .
The vet told me to kill her she’s no good she will never walk as he said this I look down in my lap at pure happiness and joy, why would I kill her she is perfect just as she is and she was.
That taught me to be creative in ways I had never done before.
Tonight I look at these pieces that I have from that period , pieces that I created while living in Thailand with my constant source of inspiration Samed who someone threw away because she was deemed useless, with that I went to work to create a jewelry collection out of things that other people threw away deemed useless
This earring set I look at today with eyes of such gratitude that I got the experience of learning to see through Sameds eyes where everything was perfect. What is perfect? all I can say is I started to pay attention to Samed I paid attention to what I was working on and trusting that they would let me know when they were ready when I could step away as through my hands they these thrown out bits and pieces did not, die they got and get to live perfectly as new items and that is perfect

A screw from a car door added to that part of a ceiling fan motor or that drain cover that got replaced because it lost its shine no problem we shined it up or not, but what ever they came out to be possibly even this set they were and are perfect

I learned what was precious there are no diamonds and gold more precious than my little dog Samed she never gained the use of her legs but I will say everyday that I got in those 10 years she was with me those are precious and perfect

And yes the stones are actually green Tourmalines that I did buy, to give them that I am deserving no matter if I’m not gold I still can’t be the setting for a beautiful gemstone I am a perfect match

Prom 2024

Carrol chose a classic earring of Sapphires and Aquamarine to go with her beautiful dress, both something she will look back on these photos with confidence and pride in her presentation.

A beautiful young lady who carries herself with elegance and class.

I’m always so thrilled when I see a young girl opt for tradition of style rather than trend ( my observation that prom became very suggestive and sexualized with skimpy to tight dresses ) she’s just beautiful
tailored and elegant.
The classic silhouette of these earrings will be something that she can wear for years to come, pieces in her wardrobe that will stand the test of tim with Sapphires making them precious as the memories she will create on those future occasions when she puts them on again and again.l

Each time that I take pics of the pieces of this collection for a cliebtm I see something different , each time they are photographed for a client to choose from, I realize that they are finding new homes and that they are letting me go, to move forward into someone else’s life.

The gold ikigai plates as the backdrop and the rusted out squares of stainless steel bring them together with the reality of what we each think is beauty, what is precious, is it the castings of 18k gold in each piece or is it the interwoven found parts that makes it precious, I gave up a long time ago on trying quantify this.

When I stopped thinking too much it made me understand and believe that it’s all precious, it’s up to us, to each person to decide what’s precious to them.

A mother will hang a drawing of a cat on the refrigerator that her child drew in school and she really does think it’s precious , this in turn lets the child believe, to dream, to feel appreciated and loved , her actions of placing that cat drawing on the fridge just told the child how precious it is to her. How precious her child is to her.

My goal is that when these or other pieces that I create are put on to wear that that little child in all of us wakes up to see how precious they are, the pieces how precious they are and how precious we all are.
