HollyFest returns to Holly Springs on Saturday, October 31, bringing together local makers, artists, small businesses, food vendors, and plenty of activities for the whole family.

Meanwhile, the Trentheim Designs workshop is keeping busy with fall and holiday creations. There are ornaments to make, designs to finish, displays to organize, and always another idea competing for space on the workbench.

That's the fun—and occasionally the chaos—of running a small creative business.
When you're browsing a maker market, what usually catches your attention first? Holiday decorations, something for your home, a unique gift, or something completely unexpected?

Every tabletop gamer has experienced it. You need a 15 or better. You pick up your favorite d20, give it a little encouragement, and roll.

Natural 1.

Okay. Everybody has a bad day. Next roll? Another 1.

At some point, you have to accept that the dice are doing this deliberately.
Fortunately, Trentheim Designs has a solution: Dice Jail. A place for those troublesome dice to contemplate their poor decisions while the rest of the party gets on with the adventure.

Will incarceration improve their behavior? Probably not. But at least you'll feel better.

What's the worst streak of bad rolls you've ever experienced?

There's something about a good vendor market that you just can't duplicate online.

Sure, we love making things. We love seeing an idea go from a sketch to a finished product. But one of the best parts of taking Trentheim Designs on the road is watching people discover our work.

Sometimes someone spots exactly what they've been looking for. Sometimes they find something they didn't know existed. And sometimes a conversation begins with, "I have a really strange question..." (Those are often our favorite conversations.) Every market teaches us something about what people enjoy, what catches their attention, and what we might want to try making next.

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to visit local makers, ask questions, and support small businesses. You help keep the creative wheels turning.

Tomorrow.

Trentheim Designs is headed to Charm at the Farm —and this isn't a little Saturday market.

Southern Charm brings together hundreds of makers and small businesses, along with food trucks, live music and thousands of people for one enormous day at Farmington Dragway.

We'll be there with a booth full of TD creations, including plenty of favorites and some newer things we've been working on.

Come spend the day wandering, eating, listening to music, supporting small businesses and finding something you absolutely did not intend to buy when you left the house.

We'll help with that last part.

What are we bringing to Southern Charm at the Farm ?

That's becoming an increasingly dangerous question.

We're packing Trentheim Designs favorites, some newer creations, gifts, home pieces, things for runners, things for gamers, things involving Bigfoot because apparently we have standards to maintain… and whatever else manages to escape the workshop before we close the trailer.

That's one of the things we love about Trentheim Designs: our booth doesn't fit neatly into one category.

So whether you're shopping for somebody else or employing the highly respected “I didn't know I needed that until I saw it” method of shopping for yourself, come take a look.

Saturday is getting close.

This is what event week looks like at Trentheim Designs.

The lasers run. The tables slowly disappear under finished products. Boxes start multiplying. Somebody realizes we should probably make six more of that thing we only have two of.

And all of it is headed toward one goal: Southern Charm at the Farm this Saturday.

One of our favorite things about making what we sell is that nearly everything on our tables started right here in the TD workshop as raw material, an idea and a design on a computer. Then we get to watch the lasers turn that idea into something real.

This week, they're going to be busy.
Very busy.

Something BIG is coming

The lasers are going to be busy for the next week.

On Saturday, October 3, Trentheim Designs is heading to Southern Charm at the Farm in Mocksville—and this one is BIG.

Hundreds of makers and vendors, food trucks, live music, and an entire day devoted to wandering around finding things you didn't know you needed until you saw them.

We're bringing plenty of Trentheim favorites, but we're also using it as an excuse to make some new things.

Because apparently taking the sensible amount of inventory to a large event isn't really our style.

Healing Potions, but better!

Your character has 11 hit points left and the monster looks considerably healthier than you do.

You could dig through your dice, remember which healing potion you have, figure out how many d4s it uses and roll them. Or you could just grab the bottle.

Our Briarroot Apothecary Healing Potion Collection gives each of the four standard healing potions its own glass vial, complete with exactly the dice you need inside. The full set comes with its own display rack, so they're equally at home on the gaming table or displayed with the rest of your RPG collection.

Useful? Yes.
Necessary? Technically, no.
Much cooler than writing “Potion x1” on a character sheet? Absolutely.

The complete set is $35.

There's a reason running gear keeps sneaking into the Trentheim Designs workshop.

We understand the strange satisfaction of a PR, the collection of race bibs you can't quite bring yourself to throw away, and the medals that eventually need somewhere better to live than a drawer.

So some of what we make is specifically for runners—ornaments, suncatchers, bib and medal displays, and other ways to commemorate the miles you've put in.

Because after you've paid for the race, trained for months, gotten up at an unreasonable hour and voluntarily suffered for several hours… you might as well have something cool to show for it.

Tomorrow we're packing up Trentheim Designs and heading just down the road for the Hasentree Fall Market!

We'll have a selection of TD creations with us, and—as usual—there's a pretty good chance we'll bring something you haven't seen from us before.

That's one of our favorite things about doing local markets. You can look at pictures online all day, but there's something different about picking up a piece, seeing the layers and engraving firsthand, and meeting the slightly questionable people responsible for making it.

The Hasentree Fall Market (1200 Keith Rd, Wake Forest) begins Saturday, September 19. 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Come find us, say hello, and see what escaped the workshop this week.
