Sheri's Designs (2026)

Visit: www.sherisdesigns.ca to learn more about me. Being creative is just part of who I am, it's what makes me happy. As a child I loved rocks, crafts, sewing and cooking. I haven't changed too much over the years, except now the rocks I collect are tiny and sparkly. What I love most about what I do is the stories that accompany each piece I design. I love when clients tell me what each item will represent. I feel very honoured to make such a special design for them. I buy all my supplies from reputable suppliers who I can trust. This allows me to create pieces that will stand the test of time. This provides me with the knowledge that I am buying higher grade gems that are sourced ethically. I began taking silversmith classes several years ago and it was like I was meant to do this. When I first started Sheri’s Designs, I made chain maille and hand stamped jewelry. Over the years, my jewelry designs have evolved to mostly sterling silver and gold rings. I’m proud to say that my specialty is “mother’s rings”. Originally, I really wanted a mother's ring to represent my children so I started designing different "mother's ring" styles. As soon as I made the first set, I knew that this was the direction I wanted to take my business. As a mom, I love wearing jewelry that represents those most special in my life. I enjoy seeing how happy it makes my girls when they see me wear jewelry that represents our family. It truly makes them feel special.

This spring one of my husband’s colleagues asked me to remake his wedding ring into a piece of jewelry for each of his 2 daughters. I’m not equipped to melt down and cast jewelry, so it was a bit of an artistic challenge. The outside of the ring had 2 strips of white gold with a strip of yellow gold down the center. The sides of the band were rounded for comfort, and the inside and underside of the band were all yellow gold. I’ve attached a photo of the ring in the comments, unfortunately I forgot to photograph the ring beforehand.
I sawed the band into 3 strips and made 2 rings each with a hammered finish. He thought one daughter would prefer yellow gold showing on the outside of the band and the other would prefer white gold showing on the outside of the band. You can see the different gold colours on the inside as well as the outside of the rings.
I then took the middle strip which was entirely yellow gold and hammered it thinner to make 2 pendants.
I appreciated his willingness to give me complete artistic freedom while creating these pieces. I was very happy that I could help him remake this ring into something special for his daughters.

This was an extra special project for me. Last year, a dear friend lost her battle with cancer, she was such a kind and caring woman. In December, her husband asked me to make a piece of jewelry in her memory for their young adult daughter. My girlfriend loved the ocean and as a family, they would collect sea glass whenever they travelled. I looked through her collection and choose this piece of sea glass because she loved blue and so does her daughter. I made a sterling silver bezel and tucked some of her ashes behind the sea glass.
The second pendant I made by melting blue glass, then added her ashes and encased the ashes with clear glass. I annealed the glass in my kiln and made a sterling silver setting to hold it. You can see the ashes created striations through the pendant. I love how it reminds me of the ocean.
These are some of the most emotional pieces of jewelry I've made over the last 16 years. It was a privilege to be able to do something so meaningful for my friends’ daughter.

Several years ago I made the exact ring set for a client and she loved it. Unfortunately her set was stolen from her this past year. Her daughters contacted me this spring and asked me to make the exact set for their mom. What a special surprise this would have been.

For the month of June, you have the choice between alexandrite birthstones and pearls. I typically use alexandrite gems but occasionally I receive requests for pearls. This set includes 2 pearls and one lab created diamond. They look lovely set in 14k yellow gold.

New things ahead! I am in the process of switching Etsy shops. You can now find me at my new shop, Sheri's Designs Jewelry www.etsy.com/shop/SherisDesignsJewelry

When I started my Etsy shop, 15 years ago, we were living in the USA. We moved back to Canada 11 years ago. When we moved, I found out that Etsy wasn't set up to allow me to switch my banking info to a Canadian bank (and I can't have income arriving in a USA bank or I'll be paying taxes in both countries 🙂 It worked out since Etsy allowed me to accept Paypal payments. Fast forward to 2025 and Etsy has decided that I need to have a different Etsy shop, with a different name and use my Canadian banking info. It's a little more complicated but that's the short version.

Luckily I had opened a new shop years ago in case this ever happened so my shop name is only slightly different. Unfortunately I can't bring with me all my lovely reviews or sales history but I need to carry on. So onto being called Sheri's Designs Jewelry on Etsy.
