WORK IN PROGRESS:
The River of Life ring set has been signed off by my client so now it's ready for stone setting, laser engraving and hallmarking. It's been a complex process to get this far so it's a bit of a relief to finally be at this point and to hand it on to other experts to help me complete it for my client.

So far this project has used the following:
• stone polishing to reshape a garnet
• wax carving the Putney River inspired ring
• casting the wax model as solid silver
• recycling gold
• hand making the gold ring to fit around the silver one
• resizing both rings following fitting appointment

Yet to come:
• stone setter
• laser engraver
• assay office to Hallmark each ring

This is why projects can take such a long time to complete. There can be multiple processed and people to include.

The life of bespoke jewellery is rarely a straight line but it keeps my brain busy, engaged and alive so I wouldn't change it for anything. 🧡

REVEAL:
A play on a Russian wedding ring design using yellow, white and rose gold for a chunky wedding ring. Ball hammer texture with a polish / satin / polish finish to highlight the coloured golds. Very satisfying reveal taking off the masking tape.

I'm also experimenting with real workshop noises rather than spend ages trying to find the 'right' music (who has time for that white frankly?)

What do you think? Real noises or find music next time? 🧡

REVEAL:
this was a fun wedding ring it makes. A play on a Russian ring using yellow, white and rose gold. Ball hammer texture with a polished / satin / polished finish to accentuate the colours.

I'm playing around with natural workshop noises rather than spend too long trying to find suitable music...what do you think? 🧡

18CT GOLD:
This is a hollow 18ct gold chain along with some 18ct gold scraps left over from making the settings for this ring.

The pile shrinks so quickly. Blink and you miss it. 🧡

PLATINUM, DIAMONDS & PALLADIUM:
My clients are renewing their vows and wanted something extra special to celebrate.

A total of 1.3ct of diamonds made up of 14 round and 13 baguette are alternated around the majority of the platinum court shape band. The couple's children's birthstones (peridot and alexandrite) are set inside.

A rough satin finished palladium court fit band accompanies. Palladium is a fantastic alternative to platinum. They are from the same metal family. Palladium shares the same hypoallergenic, non tarnishing, denser / harder wearing grey / white lustre of platinum whilst being more affordable. 🧡

RECYCLED SILVER:
This silver is going to be merged with gold to create a two-tone ring. I've already made tiny silver settings and this is the leftovers being melted together. Keep an eye on my Stories to see work in progress. 🧡

GOLD, RUBY & DIAMONDS:
I'm starting 2 new recycling projects this week. There can be a bit of waiting around whilst annealing and cooling gold so I often try to work on 2 things at once so I'm never not doing something. This is a twist design with rub over set ruby and pair of diamonds. All entirely handmade using my clients own jewellery. Keep an eye on my Stories for work in progress updates. 🧡

COLOURS:
This recycled gold sapphire, garnet and diamond ring stack is all about colour. So bright and vivid, the blue and pink combo with the gold catches my eye every time I scroll through my photos. 🧡

ARE YOU HOT?
Well imagine being gold and heated to around 1000 degrees depending on the carat...🔥

This gold is slowly becoming a fitted ring to accompany a silver ring.

Today is a record breaker heat wise so I hope you are all keeping cool and enjoying the sunshine. I am firmly in the shade as much as possible...I'm not built for heat. 🧡

DECISIONS, DECISIONS...
This 3D printed model wasn't the first design my client settled on but that's all part of the bespoke jewellery process. Not everything is a straight line.

Following a consultation to pick my clients brains for what she likes / doesn't like I'd drawn up a sheet of rough sketches using her own stones and some new ones I would source.

My client narrowed them down to 2 designs (cluster and linear) The cluster layout was the favourite but when the computer drawings bought my sketches to more vivid life my client wanted to revisit the linear layout.

The 3D printed model followed to confirm the linear design has won her heart. She's upgraded from 9ct to 18ct rose gold too. This will give a deeper rose colour that will look so good next to those beautiful stones.

Swipe through the images to see the design process we've been through. All of this consultation and development process has been done remotely with my client, through video call, emails and post. 🧡
