The “Milky Way” Day-Date.

This 1979 Ref. 18038 has one of those dials that immediately catches your eye. Cacholong, from the opal family, has a cloudy, milky-white surface that almost looks like it’s floating inside the yellow gold case. Add the small diamond-set 6 and 9, and the whole watch becomes that much better.

The condition is superb. The case is sharp, the lugs are strong, and the original President bracelet is still impressively tight for a watch of this age.

The contrast of the pure white Cacholong against the warmth of the yellow gold is just fantastic.

Have you ever seen the original factory finish on a King Midas - when it’s factory fresh, never polished and not even worn? I bet most of you haven’t.

Well here you go - a 50 years-old King Midas reference 4342 in the best possible condition we can ever wish for - brand new, fully linked and retaining its full case back sticker.

One can clearly see the crisp and distinct horizontal factory brushing across the case and bracelet, and in this case even on the blue dial which we don’t see very often.

Not your ordinary Tiger Eye Datejust

A 1972 Rolex Datejust Ref. 1607 in 18k yellow gold, fitted with a beautiful Tiger Eye stone dial and distinct bark-finished bezel. The dial has wonderful natural banding, especially the darker section running beneath the Rolex print, which gives the whole watch much more depth.

Another highlight is the bracelet. Made by renowned Hong Kong jeweller and former Rolex retailer King F**k, each bit of the bracelet has been hand engraved to echo the texture of the bark bezel, with an incredible amount of detail visible up close.

A very glamurous iteration of a reference that is difficult to find even in its purest form.

The Rolex Datejust is one of the most recognizable Rolex watches ever made and some early examples are well worth a romance if you know what to look for.

Here’s one of the best examples of an early reference 6605 in white gold, the rarest metal it was made in and we couldn’t wish for a better dial than the glossy gilt dial - fine pointy markers and matching Alpha hands complete the look. The dial shows very subtle but mesmerizing greyish crazing - that we hardly ever get to see on this type of dials - and the gloss is still present.

This is Datejust in its purest form. The soft- profiled case of the early Datejust reference with its fine milled bezel seriously feels so good on the wrist and becomes even better when paired with the ultra comfortable and fully linked old style Jubilee bracelet. Included with the watch is a pre-programmed smile when you open or close the bracelet and get a glimpse on the big logo clasp.

The combination is a dream - but dreams can come true.

The incredible Rolex Datejust with Arabic-Hindi dial — produced in tiny numbers exclusively for the Middle East, with these dials believed to have been available only by special order. Arabic-Hindi dials are seen far less often on Datejust references than on their Day-Date counterparts, which themselves hardly ever surface on the market. We know of only a handful of examples across all metals, placing these watches among the rarest vintage Datejust configurations today.

Taking this one a step further, this 1969 Datejust reference 1601 is cased not in yellow gold, but in pink gold, creating a beautiful contrast against the sculptural Arabic-Hindi numerals on the silver dial. The Arabic date disc is the final detail that brings the whole watch together.

The watch is preserved in beautiful condition and comes on its original Jubilee bracelet. Unlike many pink gold Rolex watches from the period, this one retains a vibrant and unmistakable pink hue that gives the watch tremendous warmth on the wrist.

An irresistible Datejust, and a wonderful expression of Rolex’s long and fascinating relationship with the Middle East and its culture.

One of maybe a handful of known examples of a Rolex Datejust featuring an Arabic-Hindi dial — the font and shape of these numerals have something magical, something oriental and even royal about them, perhaps explaining why they were only cased in precious metals.

Dating to 1960, this 18k yellow gold reference 1601 appears to be the earliest known example and features a beautifully preserved, period-correct ch*****ne ‘Swiss’ dial showcasing those intricately cut and applied numerals, matching Alpha hands and an Arabic date disc. The fine and well-preserved Millerighe bezel tells you immediately that this is a special one.
Equally hard to believe is the impressive preservation of the watch considering the age of the watch — sharp, well defined and free of any major wear.

This is a very special Datejust — one that, 66 years ago, would have been a special request, proudly leaving the retailer on the wrist of its owner.
