Our congratulations to H.E Dr. Sultan Al Jaber on being appointed President of the upcoming COP 28.

To those who don't live in UAE, appointing the head of the UAE's national oil company to lead COP 28 may seem like the ultimate "capture" of the COP process by the oil and gas industry. But that view couldn't be more wrong.

Dr. Sultan has been deeply involved with the sustainability agenda for over 15 years. He was instrumental in setting up Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) and was its CEO for 7 years, during which time Masdar co-funded the London Array Limited (175 wind turbines which power more than a half-million homes in the United Kingdom and keep nearly 1 million tonnes of carbon-dioxide emissions out of the environment every year). The company also built Masdar City, a shining example (with many lessons learned) of low carbon construction and low carbon city-scale operations, and invested in wind projects in Dudgeon, Seychelles, Scotland, Samoa, Serbia, Jordan, Oman, Montenegro, Poland, Uzbekistan, Texas, and New Mexico in the USA. When he took over at ADNOC Group, he quickly set a carbon reduction objective, and in January 2020 committed ADNOC to decrease its GHG intensity by 25 percent by 2030.

Although some will argue we should "Just Stop Oil", the practical reality is that our global economy depends on fossil fuels. Knowing that we need to migrate away from fossil fuels, and simultaneously being able to use today's petro-dollars to fund tomorrow's renewable and sustainable sources of energy, is just the smart move.

Cynics may well disagree, but I am encouraged and hopeful in the news of Dr. Sultan leading COP 28. The UAE is going to surprise everyone this year.

Running their entire logistics fleet on biodiesel has certainly become a differentiator in their client offering. Looking forward to many more years of working together.

Expo 2020 Dubai has been such an incredible success and part of the UAE landscape for the past 5 years. ‘Supporting the Kier Group with Neutral Fuels Holdings Ltd biodiesel for the pivotal part they have played in its construction has been an honour’, commented Gary Hubbard FCILT, Chief Commercial Officer. Another first for a leading Abu Dhabi based company. AD Ports Group feeder service, Safeen Logistics Feeders is the first in the UAE, to use biodiesel on vessels at Khalifa Port.

The SAFEEN PEARL (pictured) took on board a B20 biodiesel blend for use in their on-board generators supplied by Aggreko, one of the world’s leading temporary power generation providers. The biodiesel was refined from Used Cooking Oil, collected locally, refined locally and delivered locally by the GCC’s leading biodiesel company, Neutral Fuels Holdings Ltd.

As a preeminent company in the GCC maritime sector, meeting and exceeding its responsibilities to reduce carbon emissions in line with the UAE’s Vision and Strategy is core to AD Ports Group.

Together, AD Ports Group, AGGREKO and Neutral Fuels are working to reduce carbon emissions across the UAE.

It is always a great pleasure to visit ADNOC Group Logistics & Services at their operating centre in Abu Dhabi. Captain Mohamed Al Ali (centre) receiving their latest carbon saving certificate generated by their continuing use of Neutral Fuels biodiesel in their onshore and maritime assets. ‘With all feedstock collected within Abu Dhabi, refined in the Neutral Fuels Abu Dhabi refinery and supplied to one of Abu Dhabi’s leading companies, this is a true representation of ‘In Country Value’, said Mr Hatem Al Amoudi (left). THIRD CARBON SAVINGS CERTIFICATE FOR STS

STS Group has always been known for being Smart and very Safe, but few know just how environmentally sustainable they also are. Steve B. FCILT , Managing Director STS Group receiving his third annual carbon savings certificate for a fleet running on Neutral Fuels Holdings Ltd biodiesel numbering almost 500 buses. Now covering seven Dubai based schools and dispensed from three dedicated on site biodiesel refuelling stations, the efficiency and environmental benefits of this initiative continue to accrue and the students who travel on these buses, know that not only are they contributing to a significant reduction in motor vehicles on our roads but also to improving the air quality of our city.

SERVEU CARBON SAVING CHAMPIONS

We are very excited to be able to present ServeU LLC’s carbon certificate to Jalal Saleh, Manager Administration & Government Relations (right) & Gary Reader, General Manager (left) in the shadow of the Al Wasl Plaza at the wonderful Expo 2020 Dubai site in Dubai. SERVEU provide hundreds of professional staff in support of many of the EXPO pavilions, (including the UK Pavilion) as well as ancillary services at EXPO and they all travel on SERVEU’s own staff transportation fleet powered by Neutral Fuels Holdings biodiesel.
