Colour, it is said, acts as a silent language, shaping human behaviour, safety, communication and emotional well-being long before words or logic take over. Its warm tones (red, orange, yellow) can increase heart rate and foster social energy. Cool tones (blue, green, soft purple) lower blood pressure, reduce stress and promote focus. And deep blue tones are central to the circadian rhythm, the 24-hour biological clock that synchronizes our physical, mental and behavioural processes.
Which is partly the reason 3M Australia agreed to this collaboration with V&M as a residential installation to showcase its latest tinting palette for the double glazed upgrade of V&M’s Braidwood home industry facade.
Built in the early 1950s as an agricultural merchandise outlet, the large 16-square colour block on the left was originally a metal roller door to a showroom selling Humber cars and International tractors. In later years, it was converted to a mechanical workshop contracted for the servicing of fire engines for NSW Fire Brigade, and general automotive repairs.
Vetro e Metallo (V&M) translated from Italian means Glass & Metal, and 3M’s colour facade is now representative of the colourful architectural kiln glass that is now processed in Park Lane’s rear workshop.
A singular pop of colour is said to stimulate the nervous system and even to trigger a small release of dopamine.
Life might otherwise be muted, even monotonous.
V&M.
