We found this very old plough in a paddock. It’s probably been on the farm over a hundred years. But would you look at how gorgeous the design on the wheel is? That star shape to form the spokes?

I’m always inspired by the thought put into good design on old tools. These were everyday things, utilitarian, yet they are designed and fabricated with care.

The other day, I was reminded of how precious my 1833 Austen editions are. They rather dwarf the cost of this lovely sterling silver silhouette of Austen herself. 😆

Isn’t it irritating? I can not saw a perfect circle without much cursing, gritted teeth, and sweat, and this trapdoor spider does it effortlessly!

I love trapdoor spiders! They cut the circle as a door for their burrow. I did spy this little one’s eyes glittering within her home, but I felt I’d intruded enough.

Come to think of it… round door… hobbits…
