A cushion cut diamond on its own can read as one heavy square. Put a round brilliant either side and something unexpected happens. The eye reads the whole head as a single long shape instead of three separate stones, and the centre looks bigger, not smaller.
That’s the whole engineering of the Meghan. A GIA certified natural or IGI-graded lab-grown cushion cut centre, with two 0.15 carat round brilliants held in white gold claws either side of it. The white gold claws are not cosmetic. On a yellow or rose gold band, they keep the side stones bright, and the three diamonds read as a continuous line of light.
Three stones have carried the “past, present, future” meaning for a hundred years, which is lovely, but the reason this design actually works has nothing to do with the story. It works because of geometry.

Three stones or one. Which story would you want to wear?
