FIELD NOTES III - Oceanic Trove

Oceanic Trove is composed of rounds among rounds. The simple gathering and composition of very beautiful finds. In this case incredible tones of blue green parti sapphires with aquatic depth and liquid light, with bright white and filtered ch*****ne luminosity of brilliant cut diamonds.

Fragments from the Field Work collection are smaller pieces, made to accompany. They are like a note in the margin alongside a larger record, though they containing enough in themselves alone. The forms carry the line of a leaf, the curve of weathered stone, organic surfaces embedded with gems or left in their natural state.

Fragment I (bottom right) has a gentle sweep to the left, where a dusky collection of pink sapphires and ch*****ne diamonds are embedded in a beaded field. The subtle sparkle colour would add a meaningful additional note to Notation: Dusk and Survey: Tilth.

Fragment II (bottom left) rises to the right, with a trail of three gems tumbling along the sweeping surface. Three pale ch*****ne diamonds invite us to think about what lies beneath.

Fragment III (top left) is a gentle little tableau, a fine piece to sit alongside, a small foot note, additional little piece of information in the form of three small stones.

Fragment IV (top right) is an additional note of rich texture and gold beads and embedded diamonds.

The Field Work collection is made up of Field Note Assemblages and Fragments, with three assemblages comprising the collection thus far.

Tilth Assemblage (top) features a marquise at centre, flanked by brilliant round gems and pavé cluster in rocky settings. A secret little side stone nestled in archaic leafy growths offer another dimension of wonder. Like worked earth, cultivated soil, this gathering speaks to care and intention, to the precious things tended over time.

Oceanic Trove (center) is composed of rounds among rounds. The simple gathering and composition of very beautiful finds. In this case incredible tones of blue green parti sapphires with aquatic depth and liquid light, with bright white and filtered ch*****ne luminosity of brilliant cut diamonds.

Finally, Dusk Notation (bottom) boasts a pear-shaped hero stone, rounds in close company, and an organic pavé cluster. The colours move from deep to pale, warm and layered, the way the twilight thickens and leavens at the end of the day... The way dusk does.

Announcing Field Work, a new collection.

Field Work is a collection of precious rings (Field Notes) designed as standalone pieces or stackable assemblages. The guiding metaphor is scientific fieldwork, the naturalist’s notebook, the specimen tray, the act of careful observation recorded in the field over time, that is YOUR field over time.

The concept emerged directly from recurring enquiries from lovely clients wanting to combine different stones, colours, and forms within a single ring to represent people, places, and dates. Field Work gives that impulse a material and intellectual framework, positioning it not as sentimental memorial jewellery but as something closer to rigorous, personal notation.

A single ring might be one complete observation and summarisation of an event. A stack might be a journey through or gathering of these things over time.

The initial specimens of this collection are ready to explore on my website.
