Slowly building this engagement ring piece by piece.
Thinking about how to put it all together. Needing to consider different grades of solder, and polishing as I go, thinking about setting the gems. The planning is always in my mind with makes like this. A plan before I start but adjustments along the way.
The diamonds are glued on at the moment, a handy tip when creating small, fiddly, shapes that need to fit gems precisely. A gentle heat with the flame will remove the glue when it's time. Or, if they are not diamonds you can pop them into some metho for a while to loosen the gem.

I said that I would be starting a newsletter, because I have a love / hate relationship with social media. (Love the idea, hate the owners 🤷🏻‍♀️)
Soooo, this is one of my very first designs, when I was at university. We had to design a 'pressed shape'. At the time I didn't know how to do that, or how to create the (seaweed inspired) design on the shape.
But, I just dreamed and drew and came up with something unencumbered by the constraints of *actually having to make it. It was fun.
I go into that in my first newsletter. And show you a picture of the finished piece, when I actually knew how to make it. And other things 🙂
If you sign up (there's a link in my Instagram bio or just message me with your email) I definitely won't spam you with lots of emails, because I'm genuinely pathetic at this kind of thing. But! I will sporadically send you behind-the-scenes pictures, new crazy gems that I've found, pieces I'm working on, sneak peeks of new pieces for my new shop, and some general ramblings.

A collection of loveliness 💫
I have a gorgeous client who comes to see me every year while she's on holiday. Her husband loves to fish and she loves gems. 💎
She has a very good eye for my favourite gems in my gem collection here at the shop. 😂

💍 Why do we wear jewellery? 💍
🌟 Jewellery is so sentimental. It's often a wearable memory of a place, a person or a time. Or a statement about who we are. Two intertwined reasons.
❤ This piece was made for my client with her late husband's wedding ring and an incredible Australian Zircon that he had cut. He was a talented lapidrist.
✨️ I consider myself very privileged when people trust me with their sentimental pieces.
