Since I studied silversmith skills back in 1997 in Christchurch New Zealand I have been hooked on jewellery. I can't stop making it and I love everything about it. Most of my work is in sterling silver, semi-precious stones/beads and freshwater pearls. However I am moving more into gold as more of my customers are requesting it. I learn from each piece I make and plan the next often before the one
I am working on is finished. As each piece I make inspires me to make the next, my work is continually changing, growing and evolving. I have always loved jewellery. As a child I remember going through my mothers jewellery box, exploring the family heirlooms, and being told the stories of how each piece came to be in our family - often gifts in marriage and promises of continuing love and commitment. I am still fascinated how this empowers an object, which acts as a token of love. It is this energy, which I believe is given to my jewellery through the act of being hand crafted. As I have been heavily influenced by the design and quality of old jewellery, when I make my own I want the pieces to be well made and stand the test of time - passing on the stories for generations to come.
