Chicken Mad

Hey guys!

Quick reminder - if you email us and don’t hear back within a few days - our SPAM folder has most likely taken possession of your email for no good reason 🤔 it especially likes consuming emails from outlook but is willing to diversify its palette 🫣

DM in here is generally easier!

Pretty eggs can come from all our colour dozens! This little darling came from a light brown egg in our budget and speedy offering: Very Very Broody Dozen

https://chickenmad.com.au/products/untitled-aug12_18-12

She’s now laying this little treasure that wouldn’t be out of place in a makeup counter at a Mecca store 🩷

It’s delightfully pretty and her eggs are too! 😍

Apparently as a small child, my mum tells me, I wanted to live in a zoo. Or run a zoo. 🤔 No doubt before I wanted to be a mechanic - but I digress.

Anyway, be careful of what you wish for or you might just end up with it in your back yard. Shameless posers include Mr Peacock jnr, a splash and a BC Marans and some Cream Legbar and Marans ladies.

Photo taken by Mark, who also got sucked into the zoo life 🤷🏼‍♀️

FARM GATE PICK UP days this week are:

Don’t forget to GUESS and win 6 eggs!

Some have been very close but no one has nabbed it quite yet! Remember - breed name and exact colour are required.

More clues:
They’re quite a rare colour and their eggs are rarely offered with prices in the hundreds of dollars ($600 I believe but I couldn’t even find an offering)

*Postal charge of $25 applies or they can be added to an existing order for $5 post

Who Am I TUESDAY - guess correctly what breed and colour this is!! New addition to the team and awfully pretty - everyone guessing correctly will go into a draw to win 6 eggs from this pen.

Hi guys!

Let’s all have a little discussion about what is and isn’t appropriate when arranging to pick up your eggs or chicks from any poultry breeder.

So you’re very lucky and you can drop in and pick up some eggs from a breeder - bypassing post. Great! Here are a few pointers to make it a smooth transaction:

*Please adhere to the specified time. Breeders are people too and with lives and a long list of chores. Let the breeder know if you’re running early or late as soon as you know - not at arranged pick up time.
*Arrange pick up by text/messenger - we prefer no phone calls.
*We do not publish our address online - we like our privacy.
*Make the time sensible - 8pm on a Friday or 6am on any day is not a reasonable pick up time.
*If a breeder indicated where they’ll meet you, try to adhere to their instructions and stay in or near your car - we have biosecurity, safety, insurance and other considerations. We do NOT want to find you wandering through our property.
*Do not block the road - pull over on the grass if waiting. Then our neighbours won’t have to scowl at you as they’re trying to get home 🙏🏻

(As a small addendum for the really unusual - smoking and throwing butts into my grass will unleash a side of me you don’t want to see 😅 likewise letting your dog out of the car. Absolute firm NO and you will be refused service and excommunicated)

Our young ladies have taken to laying in the bushes, so they’re spending a little longer in the pen. It also gives us the opportunity to feed and water wild-bird free before they head out free ranging. This Cream Legbar thought she’d sneak out at breakfast time and immediately wanted back in because she forgot to do something important 😹
