Mind blowing view of this evening's Blue Moon ascending behind Stonehenge.
This spectacular image demonstrates the capability of a telephoto lens coupled with a method known as perspective compression. By shooting from a great distance with an extreme focal length, a camera can make far off subjects seem incredibly close to one another. Here, the lunar disc appears massive directly behind the ancient stones, despite being almost 384,000 kilometers from Earth.
This is completely real. No digital manipulation. No enlarged moon.
Only meticulous preparation, flawless synchronization, and a deep knowledge of optical compression. The artist behind the camera spent many days tracking lunar paths, finding the perfect coordinates, and patiently awaiting the exact second of alignment.
