It’s a beautiful day here so I am taking advantage of the weather to work on some small copper bowls out in the garden. I plan to make them into little pots with enamel lids. I am enjoying playing with the different tools to move the metal around to make the shape I want.

I have just finished this new piece. It is very much a trial design and is an enamel on copper brooch inspired by a flight of geese flying over the marshes Ona bright sunny winters day. It’s quite large at around 35mm square. I would love to know what you think.

I have spent a few days playing with new ideas that have been buzzing around my head. It isn’t always easy to find the time to play when there are commissions to make, teaching sessions to plan and making work for upcoming shows. Don’t get me started with all the admin that goes with being a working artist! I am planning to make some larger pieces and the first two are inspired by the big skies that I love and from my recent trips to Jordan and Norfolk. It’s been fun and productive and today I plan to make the large rounded square sample into a brooch and hopefully start a small dish of the same design. What do you think?

Just back from an amazing week away staying in one of my favourite places on the North Norfolk coast. Lots of long walks, walking along the coastline gazing at marshes, sea views, huge skies and the abundant birdlife. As always it has been a wondrously peaceful and relaxing time. An opportunity to take stock of my life and to review the direction my work is taking me. For a few days I just looked and didn’t feel the need to paint or draw anything. I realise I was completely exhausted as for many reasons this year has been particularly tiring although really exciting in lots of ways. I feel very lucky to be able to spend these times with my partner in crime, my long suffering husband who very fortunately, as well as being very tolerant of my excesses, chiefly buying art books and art work, also enjoys the same things as me including excellent meals of delicious local food. So I have a pile of new books to inspire me, husband has two new art works to find space for on the wall and I am brimming with new ideas and inspiration. Happy days!

What a gorgeous sky! I had to nip out and take this when I saw the pink and golden light that was cast everywhere. Just wow. I wonder if this could work as a new enamel necklace?🫢

I have just been inspired to add beads to these three necklaces inspired by the sea. I have to admit to a visit to the London Jewellery Fair where I may possibly have been tempted to spend! I have to say though that I love them with their new beaded necklaces. What do you think? They can be seen in more detail on my website. Link in my bio.

Playing with some of my bead collection today! I was putting these pieces away and decided I didn’t like their chains. I think I like them much better with beads so off with their chains and I am sitting listening to the rain on the conservatory roof and happily remodelling these pieces. Can’t wait to see how they look.
