I’ve wanted to visit the Hellenic Museum ever since I heard about the Iconography exhibition.

I’m more of a spiritual person than a religious one, but I’ve always been fascinated by Orthodox churches. Growing up with the history and culture of Istanbul and Anatolia, I’ve been drawn to their icons and the way gold is used in religious art. Perhaps this fascination is also part of what draws me to working with brass and bronze.

Yesterday, I unexpectedly came across this ancient cross from Istanbul (in the second photo) at the exhibition. It was one of the inspirations behind my Byzantine Clover Cross earrings, so seeing it in person felt really special. ✨

These earrings are inspired by an authentic 11th–12th-century Byzantine artifact. During this era, the empire's capital, Constantinople, was a global hub of art and architecture, centred around the iconic Hagia Sophia.

The original artifact was a small bronze pendant designed in a distinctive four-leaf clover silhouette and decorated with geometric circle-and-dot engravings, a signature style of Byzantine metalwork.
