We recently had the pleasure of hosting Bangkok-based artist Virginia Sprague in the gallery while she was in Melbourne. While here, Virginia gave an artist talk to the e.g.etal team ahead of the launch of her first collection with the gallery.⁠
⁠
Virginia sees people as part of the making process, with the pieces changing over time as they go through life with their wearer. Soft, frosted textures in silver and gold are intended to evolve, with raised surfaces polishing with everyday wear, allowing each piece to develop its own unique character. ⁠
⁠
Rather than making large gemstones the highlight of the design, Virginia prefers to let the beauty of the metal speak for itself, occasionally adding a small touch of colour.⁠

This magnificent piece was crafted as part of her first solo exhibition for e.g.etal titled ‘Of The Muses’, referencing the origins of the museum as a space of reverence for memory, creativity and knowledge rooted in the ancient Greek Mouseion.⁠

Reflecting Suzi’s love of history and fascination with the past, this ring explores jewellery as a vessel for alternate histories and forgotten stories, crafted with the modern wearer in mind.⁠

Virginia’s work acts as a dialogue between history, time, and place. Her finely textured designs feel inherently ‘found', formed by their environment and shaped by the expansive beauty of the natural world.⁠

At once ethereal and grounded in organic forms, each piece is a testament to her mastery of composition and the profound connection between people and the objects they hold dear.⁠

We recently had the pleasure of listening to Robin Wells speak about the inspirations behind her newest collection, Double Rainbow.

The Perth-based artist invited us into her studio for a virtual tour, where she took us through her practice and generously gave us an in-depth look into the techniques she uses.

At the link in bio, Robin expands on why the natural world has served as a lifelong source of inspiration, the delicate technique of fusing precious metals and her return to incorporating colour in her work.

INTRODUCING GABBEE STOLP – We are excited to welcome Tasmania-based artist Gabbee Stolp this week.

Gabbee’s collection is inspired by bodies of water, specifically the Timtulli Minanya/the River Derwent, which runs through the town in which she lives.

Inspired by bodies of water, specifically the Timtulli Minanya/the River Derwent, Gabbee’s collection highlights our relationship to these places and the creatures that live within them. Signifying life, connection and transformation, they hold memories and tell us of deep history and of constant change.

Gabbee dialled in from Tasmania to discuss her practice and the inspiration behind a body of work that brings softness to the fore with equal parts tenderness and playfulness. Read more at the link in bio.

We recently celebrated Liv Boyle on the opening evening of her first solo exhibition for e.g.etal, titled ‘Shooting Stars & Electric Clouds’.

This special collection features a palette and materials that emulates moments and memories of time spent in Victoria’s picturesque Mornington Peninsula, and aims to capture a quiet connection between the individual and our natural environment.

Our team would like to thank Liv’s family, friends and fans alike for being part of this exciting evening. Shooting Stars & Electric Clouds is available showing at e.g.etal gallery until 30th April.
