Last week, DatacomIT had the pleasure of exhibiting at the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) National Conference, and what a fantastic few days it was 😊

It was great to reconnect with long-standing clients, meet new faces, and spend time with the ALIA team who helped make the event such a success.

From meaningful conversations at our booth to sharing ideas about the future of libraries and information services, the energy throughout the conference was genuinely inspiring.

We’ve shared a few moments from the week, including our team at the DatacomIT booth and a well-earned catch-up at the pub with ALIA organisers and clients after hours.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by, said hello, and shared their time with us.

As libraries evolve, so do the solutions that support them.

We’re thrilled to be at the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) National Conference 2026 in Sydney this week, and we warmly invite you to visit us at Booth 7.

We work closely with libraries to unlock the full value of their physical and digital collections, with a focus on Recollect, special collections, and community engagement. From digitisation through to ingest and ongoing access, our approach is designed to help libraries better manage, share, and bring their collections to life.

At ALIA 2026 Booth 7, you can:
• Explore Recollect for special collections and community engagement
• See live demos of the platform in action
• Chat with our digitisation specialists about your projects and challenges
• Discover how libraries are improving access, discovery and community connection

Our famous cat bags are making a special appearance at Booth 7, so be sure to visit us and secure one for yourself 😊

This Privacy Awareness Week is a timely reminder that digitisation is only the beginning. True value comes from responsible handling, secure preservation, and consistent governance of information over time.

In a digital environment, information is only as secure as the practices that support it.

At DatacomIT, we recognise that meaningful digital transformation depends on these practices being applied consistently and intentionally.

Security isn’t a format. It’s a practice.

DatacomIT is pleased to have been part of the launch event of the University of New England, AU Collections Gateway Recollect platform.

This new digital gateway brings together UNE’s Archive Collections, Library Special Collections, and Museum of Antiquities into one searchable online platform, making thousands of rare and significant cultural, historical, and academic materials more accessible than ever before.

As Julie McCarthy, Manager of UNE’s Library and Archives Collections, explains:

“Now over 8000 items from our collections are discoverable online… Through the Collections Gateway, users can now search, access, and incorporate digitised materials into their research or personal projects from anywhere in the world, at any time.”

DatacomIT is proud to have helped implement a platform that is unlocking access to knowledge, history, and culture in such a meaningful way.

Preserving a Legacy - The Digitisation of John Danks & Son Historic Collection

For over 150 years, John Danks & Son has been at the heart of Australia’s plumbing and hardware industry, shaping how tradespeople, builders, and retailers work across the country.

From its beginnings in 1859 to its lasting legacy seen today in networks like Mitre 10, its story is one of innovation, growth, and impact.

We were proud to digitise a selection of its remarkable historical archive, preserving the moments, milestones, and memories behind the name.
